I think that is definitely a solution. I still have my reservations of Dele in a potentially more reserved role, but we shall see. We need him to take a big step up this year.
I think he has a great football brain so would adapt to almost any position we tried him in, and being given that responsibility could be the making of him. He'll never dominate the way Dembele does but the beauty of that formation is that it doesn't need someone to dominate, if everyone knows and implements their roles properly they dominate as a unit rather than as individuals.

It's new contract or a sale in the summer of 2019, not sure how much we'll get but I think up to 100m due to his contract situation.
Let's hope we'll see that contract announcement soon, cause we won't find similar quality to replace him.

Lets hope that rumoured new contract is announced soon. Too valuable to the team and would provide a lift after the transfer window debacle.

Modric to stay at Real

Luka Modric has decided to stay at Real Madrid this summer, according to AS.

The Croatian had been linked with a move to Inter Milan this summer but AS claim that after consultation with his family and friends he has decided to stay in Madrid.

The news makes the rumours around Real Madrid’s interest in Christian Eriksen seem even more unlikely as they were reported to only be interested in him as an alternative to Modric.

Little tidbit on contracts from Ali Z (couldn't think of a better place for it):

Am reliably told verts, eriksen and Alli are done as I have for some time, no idea why not disclosed, will try and find out.

Great news if true, why wouldn’t the club just announce it though?

Would calm the fans down a lot and give the media something else to talk about other than our lack of signings.

Like when Dortmund sold Gotze... the beginning of the end. They could survive without Kagawa, Sahin, but when they sold a truly massively important piece of the squad it all started to come unglued.

We've sold far more important players to us in the past (Sheringham, Berbatov, Bale, Modric etc) and we've continued our progression. Eriksen would be a huge loss but if we do end up losing him the only way it seriously impacts us is if we don't replace correctly. Far more players in the world than just Christian, even if he is the one that mostly makes us tick

Damage limitation if we lose a couple of games perhaps? Either that or they are not actually done yet, which would be worrying as it would be so great to see this nucleus be the one we can continue pushing forward with, with 1 or 2 added here and there to kick on as and when the deal is right to do

After spending nothing on new players, there's no excuse not to pay our best players what they're worth.
I can absolutely live with not spending anything this summer, if we upgraded every single key player, and paid them what are very competitive PL wages now.

Kane, Poch, Son, Dav - hopefully Eriksen, Alli, Verts - and I'm sure Trippier won't be far behind.

Perhaps we are waiting for Real, Barca or Bayern etc to show more interest before we announce the contract? Something of a PR spin or to give the fans something to cheer?

Can’t really see any valid reason for withholding the news unless the contracts don’t start until a particular time (1st Sept?) but even then surely they would just be announced for shirt sales etc...

Maybe new contracts are only 95% done

Perhaps we promised the players that we’d wait to see if any of the big foreign teams would bid for them this window before announcing them and putting ourselves in a position where we can’t be seen to sell...

Yeah it's strange indeed that they are holding these announcement. One explanation could be that they want to create some hype around the new stadium and will announce closer to the first match. But I'm just clutching for straws.

Think this summer more than ever proves that maybe not all people who claim to be ITK are actually ITK.

Sure we heard this time last year that Toby was “done”. How did that work out?
