And then the backups became first choice and seemingly some people want them to remain first choice. At this level, they are both good back ups. Could start for teams lower than us but to be where we want to, they should not be preferred. And Trippier should go this summer as he’s only blocking a really good FB who fits us far more.
Trippier really gets on my nerves with his unwilingness to try and beat his man. Davies isn’t the most technical player around, but he’ll at least try to get the cross in. While Trippier cuts back to one of the mids 8 times out of 10. Moreover, his hand flapping annoys me. He seems genuinely scared on the pitch at times.

As pointed out, we need to upgrade our FBs, but not sure who’s around that is available and better than what we have.

Showed us today what we’ve missed. If he could get fit and his head in the right place I’d love him to stay.

I’d snap anyone’s hand off for £40m.

Think he’s burnt his bridges and will be behind Davies if he chooses to stay.

It was unforgivable what he did before the start of the season. Especially going to the Sun of all places.

He can go to Everton for all I care, because I doubt United will be in for him now.

That’s emotive nonsense. If he stays and is fit he is miles ahead of Davies because he is the best LB in the league when fit and on form.

Out of interest. How would you feel if we resigned Modric?

Modric never went to a national newspaper a week before the season bashing the club.

Rose is a fantastic LB when he’s on form, but he’s crossed Poch and we all know how that ends.

I’ve always said I wanted him to stay and today emphasised that.

I think we will regret letting him go.

I actually think it suited him having KWP on the other side. Gave a bit more balance.

Rose and Poch have squared things up.

Rose has not been his best this season because of injuries and a recovery which took a long time. Today he showed glimpses of what he's capable of and I'm sure he'll stay next season too

Yeah he just openly tried to force a move to Chelsea, nowhere near as bad as telling the Sun he thinks we underpay our players.

I hope he does get back to the form of a couple of seasons ago. But a one off game today still leaves a lot to be convinced.

Chelsea were considerably better than us at the time.
He came from Croatia and owed us nothing, and no other big club in Europe were apparently in for him that time.

I’m not defending Modric, but come on take your spurs tinted glasses off for a second and look at it from his point of view.
Massive pay rise, chance of trophies and the chance to stay in London.

Rose would of known the implications that is interview could of had on the team.
There’s a time and a place, and him moaning about money after not playing for 9 months left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth.

If there is a chance we can get his head in the right place on his day he’s the best LB in the league and suits our system exactly so should do everything to keep him. It all depends on his frame of mind and also if Poch and the squad are ok to forgive and forget.

After watching him today I am in agreement with a lot of others. I don't think he's lost anything ability wise, just needs some constant games but I actually feel like he could be a threat down our left, which I don't feel I can say with Davies. In fact, minus being a cultured crosser of the ball, he's everything that we would be looking for in a left back so it would really feel like a backwards move should we let him go.

Really hope we can keep him.

I hope they can smooth things out with Danny. Clean slate next year but no new contract talks until January.

Has looked much better physically in the last 2-3 games and his mobility really added to our attacking play today.

A cynic would wonder if this late form is all thanks to the world cup and potential shop window though.

Spot on, if he comes back fully fit next season and has Aurier or KWP on the other side instead of Trippier I think we could see him return to the form similar to the last 2 seasons.
