See you say that in jest but how many left backs do we reasonably think are ahead of him? Is he top 20? Top 10? Top 5? I don't know enough about continental football but I'd be amazed to find 10 better left backs than him

How i said it was in jest but he is up there definitely and agree with you. He and walker are integral to our system and 8m for them combined... worth 10 times that now.

And to think he started out as a left winger.

The combination today of Rose, Alli & Son looked like liquid gold. Throw in our crazy Dane and some of the passing, overlapping & runs into space looked like second nature.

Tbf it was redders that moved him to left back.

Yet he never "coached" him for it  Maybe, apart from Harry's "just run about" tactics ;)

What a difference two years can make.

Tottenham is currently home to more than one rapidly evolving full-back: on the far side to Walker, Danny Rose has grown exponentially as a first-team player. Of the two, Rose has been the more talkative, attributing his rise to Mauricio Pochettino and the Argentinian’s technical staff.

“As daft as it sounds, I had never had a manager work on me until Mauricio Pochettino came to Tottenham. That’s no disrespect to any of the other managers I’ve worked for, but it wasn’t until the current manager came that I had anyone who’s taken time out to work on me as a left-back and try to help me improve. The boss always says that he wants me to play with the same arrogance as Marcelo at Real Madrid. Every time Marcelo goes out onto the pitch he looks like he thinks he’s the best in the world, and Pochettino wants me to have the same arrogance when I play for Spurs.”

Enjoyed the video of Erik Lamela teaching him spanish. Took me back to the interview where he said that while the two where having dinner, he asked Lamela if he thought they could qualify for the Champions League and Lamela looked at him "with disgust" and told him that they could win the league.

The reason I liked that anecdote partly because of Lamelas brilliant answer, but also because I just find it beautiful that football has brought those two together. Lamela, an upper class Argentinian, and Rose, a bloke from Doncaster.

If not for football, Lamela would be strutting around in a polo sweater and study sociology, and Danny Rose would sit on his porch on the other side of the world shouting at kids that dared look at his apple tree.

Special mention to DR today. Thought he was fantastic

Didn't think he'd make it with us but it's great to see a player who's worked so hard and improved just about every aspect of his game

Brilliant. Well done Danny

Just a fucking superb player. Deserves all the plaudits he is rightly getting, we are a totally different team when he's in it. just wish he was selected again Leverkeusen.

Anyone hear that comment by the commentator on BT early on in today's game that he's "living off" the goal he scored against Arsenal on his debut? No you stupid ****, he's living off the fact that he's the best left-back for Spurs and England, the best left back in the Premier League, and debatably in the top 5 in the world.

Now fuck back off to sucking McManaman's nob you idiotic shitbag.

He's unrecognisable from the petulant upstart that was playing under Sherwood.
Full credit to him and The training staff as he now looks the complete modern fullback with KW not far behind (and despite the odd brain fart that is never far enough away!)

I'd suggest alaba, alba, marcelo, felipe luis and rodriguez are better left backs. Can't think of another. That chelsea bloke would be close to him imo

I'd rather Rose than Alba, Marcelo and Felipe Luis. Although he's not as good going forwards as those 3, it's not as wide a gulf as how much worse they are defensively than he is. Rose's pressing and tackling as a full back is 2nd to none.

Erm wow. Apart from Leverkusen, Walker has been probably the most consistent performer for the past two seasons and has clearly worked hard to eradicate the crazy decision making from his game.

Let's not forget so easily how good he's been.

Having said that, I'm so happy with both of them and comparing them for me is impossible. I love them both and consider them THE real backbone of spurs right now.

One of the first names in the team sheet and we lose our chippyness (but sure if a word but you get my drift) when he's not there.
