Unfortunatley if we sell Rose then we prove Walker wasn’t a one off and ultimately we are what we always have been under ENIC which is a selling club

As fans we need to reset our expectations that the last 2 years were us outperforming and a golden opportunity whilst the big spenders were getting their houses in order has come and gone but that the current strategy of under paying players, selling them in their prime when they want parity with the leagues best and then reinvesting in young up and coming talent (that itself becomes more expensive year after year as the Sanchez purchase shows) will only get you so far.

If we get rid of rose then we have no pace in the squad at all. Only son. Needs addressing. Problem with the jan window is clubs like palace wont sell the likes of zaha when they're in trouble.

This. The last two seasons were a real opportunity, with the big clubs mostly in a mess. I don't understand why we still fail to address the holes in the squad year after year.

I just want to say fuck Danny Rose. Just fuck him.

I never say this as it's wasting money (something we can't do) but if there was a player who deserves to sit out the rest of their contract in the reserves it's him. His behaviour starting with that interview in the summer has been disgusting from a professional player.

Pathetically mild rant over.

If we look beyond the personality, which is developing into a whiny brat, a legitimate concern for me is his injury record. It's anything but rock solid, and I'd rather cash in and churn the money for the benefit of the squad than to knowingly continue reliance on important, but injury prone players. Once injuries become too much of a frequent concern, t's just too much risk for my liking considering that the aim is to launch a serious bid for major trophies.

We have sold players, and we will continue to do so, but that is what has turned us from having half a dozen good players into having a great starting 11 and now into having some depth as well. Every time we sell a player the money is reinvested into buying two or even three players of great potential. Walker went in the Summer and the money was spent on Aurier and Sanchez. Sanchez is looking a superb buy and Aurier is showing in patches he has great quality as well(just needs time to settle).

I know there are a lot unhappy about us probably selling Rose but he wants to leave and I think we all know if we force him to stay he will not do that in a quiet professional manor like a lot of pros would.

Question: How many of those saying don't sell, would be more inclined to let him go if say the money was going to be spent on Sessegnon and Richarlison? At this stage of course it is only hypothetical, but from what I hear they are both list toppers as far as potential incomings are concerned.

Good question Trix, my feeling is the following:
1. January sale of Rose to Man Utd....would need to have two parts, first a block buster amount (if Kyle was 53 million a Jan sale of Rose should be at the 60 mill + number). Secondly, I'd want the deal to allow for the following: Sessegnon (and his brother) being bought (even if there is a short term loan back) for somewhere in the 25 mill range + Shaw on a year loan or purchase. The remainder could then be invested into Jadon Sancho now....so Rose for Sessegnon x 2, Shaw and Sancho
2. In the summer I'd take slightly less for Rose....maybe closer to the 53 mill and wouldn't require the Shaw contingency.

Even if he's been a prick, we'd be off our heads selling him to United. Davies has been decent but Rose is superior and would be very good for United. Unless they want to part with Martial, they can fuck off.

Next summer?
Possibly, but I still wouldn't be happy about selling Rose to a domestic rival.

This January?
That would be extremely risky. Sessegnon is not ready to be thrown into a premiership team at left back/left wing back mid-season IMO. Hugely talented player but it's a massive ask. In fact he's currently playing as an attacking midfielder at Fulham, so I have serious doubts about his ability to come in and replace Rose without any difficulties. January just isn't a good time for this IMO.

Yep this is the problem.

Strengthening rivals, fixing problems for them while weakening ourselves. while maintaining the narrative that the top clubs of England can take their pick of our players with a little mild pressure.

For me the question of selling him now is a question of timing and progress. Since we have progressed to the next round of the CL I do not want him gone in January. Even if we could buy Sess in January I would prefer Rose's existing familiarity with our system against that level of quality opposition or in the PL depending on how Poch rotates. If Rose is sold in January and we cannot get a replacement then I assume Poch has more faith in KWP than he has shown so far or likes Aurier/Trippier as LWB options. Either way as dependent as we are on our fullbacks I think we know these are sales we cannot take lightly.

Trippier and Aurier are very one footed and this is not left, so they continually cut inside. If Trippier fails to take on his man from the right, then there will be fuck all chance that happening from the left,

Shame it doesn't work like that in reality though.
