would be so handy if he was back in time for the busy holiday period.
Doesn't really matter if he is, it'll take him some time to get 'match' fit and used to playing games, when he does return i'd be surprised if we saw the best of him much before several weeks after his return. And, if in that period he gets injured again then I think the club will cut their losses. I think it's make or break time for him.

yeah it'll take a bit to get back up to full speed, but even 10-15 minutes off the bench would be nice.

When I hear timelines like 'end of the year' that still sounds incredibly vague to me...and incredibly pessimistic.

I think we'll be lucky to see him this side of the transfer window ending, which will make things interesting when it comes to bringing in players in January.

One of my top three favourite current* players.

*'current' is defined by being named in our league squad for 2017/18. Not those who have played recently.

Just a reminder what he brings to the team. We lost the league last season not having him

Exactly, imagine if he was a River Plate player and that was his clip in the Transfer rumours forum, there would be a collective jizzfest of epic proportions about signing him, no doubt about it.

We were fine margins away, if we beat them at the bridge (which Lamela missed) and changed one draw to a win we were there.

It's hardly hyperbole IMO.

There's little point in thinking like that. A fit Lamela might have taken the place of Son or someone else in games where they made the difference, or Lamela might have got himself sent off and cost us points instead of gaining them.

Video highlights my feeling that there is so much more that Lamela can ad should accomplish here, cups, titles, tonnes of goals and assits. Hopefully he'll return to a good space for himself and the club.

Very good player whose contribution we miss.

Unfortunately this saga seems to be dragging on forever, which doesn't fill you full of confidence on a return or return to form when fit.

He has never been sent off. Ever.

I understand maybe it's not your fault, but there's a collective thinking that Lamela is a red card waiting to happen. It may not be common in England, but in Argentina players know how to play with the cards. They use them if the team needs to stop an attack, and they know how to play an entire match with a yellow card without being sent off. Lamela knows that

Overwhelming feeling is of sadness. Whether issue is physical or mental such a shame for the player and for the team.

Wasn't the point I was making, but certainly interesting to read.

My point is that there's little point in speculating on what could have happened. For all we know, Lamela could have been brilliant but cause a negative effect on other players, leading to squad disharmony. It's wrong to assume that him being fit would have automatically led to better results as there are simply too many variables.

I do want to see him playing again though.
