plus I think he is AVB's buy, the praise he has heaped on Erik has been quite marked as he is not always so enthusiastic and effusive about his players

I'm really excited to see him play live at the Lane today - hope he gets a decent run out and rips Norwich apart

He is one of the most talented young players in world football, I think he will take a few months and perhaps this full season to grow into the Premiership and mature but he will be a truely world class player within a year or two. He has the potential to be astounding.

I'm disappointed he only got 8 minutes tbh, my only gripe with AVB today. Hope to see him start in EL to a pace he might be more used to.

Oh stop it. You can't really have gripes about today.

Even in those 8 minutes he showed some classy stuff. Give him the other 82 and he'll rip teams to shreds alongside Eriksen.

why would you spend all the money on some one who is obviously better that a 20 minute player in 2 games.

How will he get used to the PL if he doesn't get game time ?

Tottenham's record signing Erik Lamela suffered a terrifying scare on the eve of his White Hart Lane debut.
Lamela’s younger brother Axel was kidnapped by gun-toting carjackers near Buenos Aires in Argentina on Friday – just hours before his home Spurs debut against Norwich.
Tottenham officials confirmed £30million-signing Lamela was made aware of the kidnap and the fact his family were forced to hand over £600 to free Axel.
It is not thought the Lamela family were specifically targeted because of 21-year-old Erik’s fame, as such incidents are not uncommon in parts of South America.
Axel’s BMW was stolen as part of the attack. The kidnappers used his mobile phone to call his family and demand the ransom, releasing the 18-year-old a couple of hours later that evening.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas had warned Lamela would take time to settle in England and the kidnap of Axel will have badly disrupted his preparation for facing Norwich – and he only came on as a substitute with seven minutes left.
Older brother Brian Lamela said: “They told us to get the ransom money and make sure the police were not involved. They came to our front door to collect the money.
“They did not cover their faces and the security cameras at our house recorded them.
“My brother is calm. All of us think it was a random incident – they simply kidnapped him for the car and nothing else.”

But seriously £600 ransom that is fuck all tbh

He hasnt been playing yet because of the fixtures in the Argentina and the travelling but should good to see him on Thursday in Europa

Let's give it time. AVB et al have their reasons. Besides which, he's still young and just joined a new club and moved to a new country, flown halfway round the world and back in the meantime and had a family member kidnapped.

Relax.

Makes much more sense to assimilate slowly when you have a 21 year old with huge expectations. I'm sure AVB has made it absolutely clear that there is a master plan in place. One in which he's gradually introduced and once he and AVB feel he is ready, he will be given free reign on the RW position and the EPL.

I love AVB for this, to be honest. Fair or not, Lamela has a ton of expectations tied to him as the "Bale replacement." He gives him a couple matches to come on late to experience the intensity, the atmosphere of the EPL. Then, I'd imagine he gives him his full home debut against Tromso on Thursday.

The same way we Lloris had to wait for his turn and had to earn his place.

His time will come, settling in and at £30 million, AVB is removing all the pressure from the lad, so us stupid fans don't put him under far to much pressure and break him.

Yet sublime man management from AVB again.

He's signed a 5 year contract not a 5 month one, patience my friend.

Personally I think it's very clever. We all expected Lloris to walk straight in the team last season.

Yeah, it's clear to me that he's 'doing a Lloris' with Lamela and introducing Erik to the side very gradually so that he slips in under the radar of the media and isn't crushed with the expectation of being our Bale replacement/costing £30m. I think this is very prudent man management from AVB (more so than I did with Lloris last year, who I felt was better equipped to deal with any pressure) and we will definitely look back this time next year at Lamela's gradual introduction and be very thankful for it.

I also think that AVB is showing loyalty to Townsend aswell, who has started the season well and would feel a bit miffed if he just got dropped straight away. Its good man management and the way AVB is managing our squad is great I personally think!

They are probably afraid that the game will be unbalanced and that Spurs will dominate

I don't play computer games these days, but I imagine the issue is that unlike reality in FIFA games the logic of the algorithm means all teams are basically as precisely as good as the sum of their parts.
