Why would you want him to stay? Is it for his prolific goal scoring, his pinpoint passing or his amazing dribbling ability?
Just think if Roma had 3 or 4 more like him we could have a team full of Lamella's amd then we would certainly be top 4.

Because the coach wants him.
Intelligent footballers are a premium.
If he doesn't succeed this season then it's time to move him on.
Yep needs more goals.
But his passing is up there with the best AM in the EPL believe or not.

I don't see that with his passing, right from day one I see it as bloody awful, and it seems to be a common argument against him.

Lamela will end up in the MLS within the next three years - he'll be a star there.

Yes you are correct it is a common stick to beat him with.
But his passing is completion is better than Eriksens.
What happens is posters see one miss placed pass and focus on that and miss all the other passes.
All 3 of our AM pass completion is roughly the same Chadli 83.3% Lamela 82.8 Eriksen 82
So why is it Lamela gets bashed?

I think he will go on loan to Italy before the window shuts. Just because the manager says he wants him means nothing Poch is not going to come out and say I dont want him at the club. Even if he does stay with new signings arriving I think, he will find it hard to get a place and be a sub at best more often than not.

OK so if that stat is saying he's good at passing, we know he's not using our eyes. Ask yourself instead not what's wrong with our eyes and what's wrong that stat.

As I said posters see one misplaced pass and focus on that (you are the perfect example in this case)
The stats don't match what you are seeing, why is that?
Do you remember every game and every pass?
Or do you just remember that one pass that didn't get there?

But as I said if the stats suggest he's up there with the best attacking midfielders in our league for the passes he has played in his spurs career they're misleading because to date he's simply not produced anything even close to the level of the top guys

Football/soccer is a fluid game and the stats are not able to paint the picture as clearly as they do in sports like baseball or nfl football

I like lamela - I hope he can become a star but realistically unless in denial any spurs fan would have to admit that to date he's been a huge flop in ever sense (for whatever reason)
