He's not up there in terms of goals which nobody can deny.
But do you watch every minute of every game in the EPL?
How can you possibly judge every AM passing if you don't see every game they play?
You can't you have to rely on the statistical information provided.
We're talking 1500 passes a season to put that in to context.
I'm not saying he's a better player than X player.
I'm saying his passing is not as bad as some make out.
By the way, he wasnt the worst player on the pitch on Saturday.

Firstly he was by far the worst player on the pitch on saturday in my eyes, that's why he was hauled off so early (not nearly early enough actually considering how terrible he was playing)

I can judge him on what I've seen from him in a Spurs shirt - for the most part his passing has been awful. Top AM's in the league consistently produce good passes, keep their teams ticking and creating chances

Lamela has created a handful of chances with a small handful of nice through balls (mostly in games where little to no pressure was placed on him i.e. against QPR)

I don't care what the stats say - common sense says he's simply not been as good passing or in any other department since he signed for us as the better AM's in the league. It's ridiculous to believe he has

He is talented for sure - but so was Soldado. What is clear to see is that he's been a terrible terrible flop for us and shows no signs of improving. I'd really like him to come good and be this big world star I expected/hoped he would be but I think even you will admit if you're honest that like Soldado its never really going to happen for him with us

If he moves back to Italy on loan I fully expect him to be as good as he was at Roma again and will probably develop into a top player - but it really isn't going to happen here any more than it was ever going to happen for Soldado. It's the best thing for him and his career to move let alone us to get such a huge flop off our books. I really hope this Inter loan happens

Dead arm mate :)
Sky Sports are saying we/he's in talks with Inter re. a loan with an option - it's not just his work mate making shit up

Obviously that doesn't make it true (Damien Duff etc) but there could well be something in it (it makes a lot of sense for all 3 parties)

Inter Milan open talks with Tottenham for Erik Lamela

Erik Lamela is thought to second on Inter Milan's wanted list after Ivan Perisic
Inter Milan have opened talks with Tottenham about signing winger Erik Lamela, according to Sky Italia.

The Argentina international joined Spurs from Roma for £25m two years ago after a brilliant season in Serie A in which he scored 15 goals.

But Lamela failed to reproduce that form in London, managing just two Premier League goals in two seasons as he struggled to adapt to the more physical nature of English football.

Inter are keen to add a winger to their squad this summer and have maintained a strong interest Wolfsburg's Croatian star Ivan Perisic.

However with Manchester City locked in negotiations for Kevin De Bruyne, the Bundesliga club are unlikely to part with both.

Lamela is Inter's second choice and it appears they have moved onto him with provisional talks with Spurs taking place on Monday and more scheduled for Tuesday.

Because they don't back up your opinion?
You point to other AM creating chances, keeping there teams ticking.
Again do you watch every game in the EPL?
How could you possibly know everything about other AM in THE EPL?
Is it based of MOTD highlights, using STATS please tell me.
Saturday was Lamelas first start in the league in 30 degree heat without much of a preseason.
I expected him to be subbed around the 60 minute mark.

They reported it was Juve a couple of days ago.
They are also saying Perisic is about to sign.
Hey who knows it could be true, but with ITK and the club saying not for sale I highly doubt it.

I'm saying, as I said in the very first post that you have quoted

Regardless of what the stats say Lamela is no where near as good a passer as the better AM's in the league (or should I say he has not shown himself to be in a Spurs shirt)

So the reason I don't care what the stats say is because if somehow they can suggest he's on a level with the better players in that position they are simply misleading.

I say that because with my own eyes I've seen how terribly woeful and disappointing he's been in a Spurs shirt since he signed for us. He's talented but he's been unable to produce

I've seen lots of other EPL matches, MOTD highlights etc and other players look much better than he. I expected him to be subbed at the 60min mark too because I expected him to flop again

The only times he's been able to produce for us is in EPL matches against inferior opposition and in dead rubber matches where the tempo of the game was far slower and he was not pressured before playing his passes.

Do you really believe he's been one of the top AM passers in the league? Do you really believe he's been anything but a terrible flop for us since he's signed? If so you and I clearly have completely different views on this player because for my money to date he's been as bad if not worse than Soldado was and all in all one of our worst signings of all time based on expectation vs delivery

I just hope he can get a move out the club now and get his career back on track because if he stays I have no doubt he will just have another poor season for us and his career will only stagnate for another year

His assist stat must be a fluke then.
His passing stat is a fluke then.
His chance creation stat is a fluke then.
Tip don't base your assessment of MOTD highlights they don't give a true picture of the game.

Not fluke - misleading (like I said all along)

Jezz - in all honesty, do you or do you not think Lamela has been a total flop to date?

I understand you think he has shown potential - I'd agree with that, I understand you think he can become a good player for us (unfortunately I no longer agree with that) but do you hand on heart think he has played well for us? do you hand on heart think he's one of the best passing AM's in our league?

Do you really think that?

People were saying based on stats he was the most creative player on Saturday, these stats were based on him taking corners! its pathetic.

To be fair they were by quite a long distance the best corners I've seen a Spurs player take in quite a while.

Bloody expensive corner taker. Not sure we can afford him just for those. Maybe he can cut the oranges at half time?

I was showing how stats are misleading, but since you love stats and how they 'prove' Lamela is great, I guess its lost on you. I am glad Lamela's stellar performances in Spurs shirt excite you so much.

The irony of you saying get grip :D

A goal is a goal.
Do you really care were it comes from?
I hate this shite our fans seem to think if goals not from open play it shouldn't count.
A chance created is a chance.
Would you care if Kane scored the majority of his goals from corners?
