BAE will probably be sold. Vertoghen should play CB when ever possible. Rose I am not sure he is good enough to be top 4 material. Weakest link in starting 11 for sure. So one player who could play CB and LB would be great

But We have vertonghen who plays CB and LB, why buy a player who, if Verts and Coentrao were fit, wouldn't get a sniff, when we already have youngsters??

It's a CB/RB we need, then we can let Naughton go, and be sure everyone will get games.

I prefer him over Willian as Bale replacement. If we sold bale for 70 mil + Coentrao I would be ok with that. We could use that 70 mil like this : 35 mil - Lamela , Rebic - 5 mil , 15 mil Osvaldo and 10-15 mil for CB and LB cover.

ATM I feel like I have no right to prefer one over the other.
I'd be eternally grateful to our FO if they somehow managed to get either player.

Italian reports are saying Lamela and his agent (his father) are asking for 2.5m a year on a new deal, and that we have approached with 4m. As it seems we have been given the ability to approach him, we may honestly be trying to do the deal :D

and one of the papers says that Roma will offer a contact extension, if he doesn't sign it they will sell him. The 4m offer sets the benchmark for negotiations.

Just watched some videos of this guy, jeez, I didn't realise how silky he was.
Looks to be a really unpredictable sure footed playmaker.
Lennon had better be on his toes though, a lot of his good work happens on the right side of the park.

I'd love Lamela over Willian. Willian would be a decent signing but he hasn't really produced a lot of end product consistently. I wouldn't pay over 20 for him. Lamela I'd be willing to pay much more.

The extension being thrown out (by his father) is through 2018, at 2.5m euros a year. It does sound like Lamela likes it there. It is strange though, as we almost sound like the club that can offer more money. Everyone knows money talks... we have just been on the losing end of such deals for so long.

I hope so too. The sad part is that I do not honestly know how reliable italian media is. My only consistent encounter with it is Tancredi Palmeri, which makes me cringe a few times. I think it is hit or miss.

I would imagin, or at least hope, that they are a little bit more reliable with local players then players from abroad.

I just hope we are not being used by his father/agent to simply get him more money at Roma. Fingers crossed there is genuine interest from Lamela to move from Roma to us.

They missed out on Europa and CL. I think that gives us a fair advantage in a world cup year. Lamela wants to be in the spotlight to break into the Nat'l team

One reason I'm sceptical of the Bale secret done deal info, is that if we find that we can only get Callum McManaman or Tom Ince, what do we do? Turan, Lamela and Willian all say no. What then?

That's all positive in our favour plus add in Baldini and the chances grow.
