Thought this was interesting as some have said Roma do not need money

Lamela I can't imagine they'll let go of lightly. And frankly, if I was Garcia, I'd be furious if they did.

@Paolo_Bandini The beauty of being the owner is you can step in and say NO. See, John Henry.

@JuveJay14 Sadly, Roma's owners have rather more delicate financial judgements to make.

Don't think that we will pay 15m for a 2nd option striker. And we won't play 4-4-2. Unless Osvaldo is supposed to play in AMC role, kind of like Michu, but I doubt it.
Agree, and I would also be surprised if he would be willing to move somewhere and not be first choice... He started upfront for Italy on Wednesday, this being a World Cup year he will want maximum exposure, siting on the bench behind Soldado will not give him that.

These are not done deals, by the way but reported in Italy that Spurs are negotiating for both Lamela and Osvaldo. Baldini knows them well..

Personally prefer these two over Lamela and Pjanic. Not because I don't rate Pjanic, but because we're stacked in midfield and will need a good striker if Ade leaves and we're left with Defoe on the bench.

I'm not sure how much sense it makes to sign such an expensive backup but I reckon with a good rotation system there will be plenty of games for everyone. What we did last season by playing our first team without rest was terrible and cost us points. A good rotation system in all positions will be vital if we plan on winning silverware, and if I had the choice, I'd rotate Soldado and Osvaldo than Soldado and Defoe. I think Osvaldo will be better in our system than Defoe.

It is going to be very difficult to get Lamela from them, I reckon. If Levy pulls this one off, I would be blown away to Kingdom come:ROFLMAO::eek:

I would love to watch the fallout from a multimillion pound scrap over silly hand gestures unfold, in real time.

Still, shows how lamentably far neoliberalism has come - the greedy assininities of the unjustifiably wealthy so accepted that they're a spectator sport.

Made me think of this:

What cryptic?

“We Romans are rich. We've got a lot of gods. We've got a god for everything. The only thing we don't have a god for is premature ejaculation but I hear that's coming quickly.”

A&C in today's ITK thread, page 23.

I don't know if it has any relation to the cryptic, but "Lamela" in spanish means "Lick it"

Sounds positive if Roma need to sell.

See, now, I'd love Lamela. No doubt about that.

But Osvaldo is a bit strange as I don't like the idea of selling Defoe right now, but I'm fine with selling Adebayor. In a perfect scenario, we'd have a guy like Soldado, a bench option like Defoe and a younger #9 striker that we can mold.

As much as I'd agree with you (I am in the camp that believes Defoe is a better option to have on the bench than Ade and wouldn't have a problem with him staying), I still wouldn't turn down Osvaldo. I like him, despite his anger management issues, and he's adaptable. He's played out wide as a wing-forward before and I think he'd be a better shout as a partner for Soldado than Defoe if we ever needed to go 2 up front.

Bringing in Lamela would be amazing. I would totally be comfortable with letting Bale go for ridiculous amounts of money if it meant Lamela was his replacement. We're a stronger side already than last year and Lamela would be a perfect replacement. The kid is better than Bale was at his age, and is only going to get better. Whether he'll reach Bale level is a question but one I'd love to find out with him playing for us.

I'm starting to wonder if our reported "interest" in Osvaldo hasn't just been to block his move to Southampton, to put Roma in a worse negotiating position on Lamela.

Finally got around to checking out the obligatory youtube video of Lamela. LEVY GO GET HIM NOW!

...that's all I've got to say about that.

Good article below about Lamela's development by Richard Whittle.

Must be tempting to stick with the 4-2-3-1, we'd finally have someone suitable to play that position.

I could see us sticking with it to start until Capoue, Paulinho and Sandro are all fit and settled etc.
