I shall up this thread when we're dead last in the group.

The points you bring up don't really relate to each other.

It seems the main attacking mid Poch wanted was Barkley. Mahrez seemed a secondaey choice. Us not buying a pacey winger type has no relation to us buying Llorente.

Poch wants good options from the bench and it seems he is not confident in Janssen at this stage, if ever, to produce. So an experienced striker with a good goalscoring record in the Prem seems an intelligent signing.

Us buying Llorente has not come at the cost of getting a fast winger.

You are going to bring up this thread again when we are last in our CL group. That seems to suggest we'd have qualified in your mind if we'd bought this quick winger.

Again these points make no sense so people are rating it all as spam.I'm not going to rate the thread but I believe it to be completely nonsensical.

I'm 100% sure if we finish bottom of the CL group, no one will think its because we have llorente and not a quicker back up striker warming the bench.

Yeah we bought him to piss the wankers at Stamford bridge off.

I'm happy cos fuck them that's why

Oh and he's a pretty good striker with experience playing at the very top level of football for a very long time and if any of our players have an ounce of intelligence they will learn a great deal off him.

It's a great signing

We bought llorente instead of a pacy wide forward?

I think we were after someone to score against teams that sit deep and defend in numbers. We keep possession and try to navigate a path through, and sometimes that works. Llorente provides a threat in the box that we really don't have when Kane drops deep against the stubborn teams. He's a really effective goalscorer and he's very experienced. Someone with that experience and success would be great for the young players to learn from.

And I doubt it was a case of one or the other. If a decent pacey wide forward was available at the right price and willing to come to us, we'd probably have him now.

I was willing to give Janssen another season but instead we buy over 30 year old slow striker which doesn't make any sense to me at all..

Maybe Llorente will help Janssen improve.

We needed a Plan B and Fernando is the Plan B. Our style of play can be nullified by sitting deep. Plan B of crossing to a target man score is what we need . We need variety
VJ would have been the Plan B but he has playing to deep trying to be a Kane. But he lacks the speed and agility of Kane
Fernando signing could help VJ to improve as a pure target man

Especially now that we've got more than one fullback that can cross.

Why is this “Spam”?

Genuine question

Are you new round here? ;) Or have you kidnapped the mod on fascist ,sorry Spurs community and replaced him.

Poster makes thread or post that's negative, they get spammed. It's childish and without doubt the only off putting thing about this site, but that's the way it is.

In answer to the actual thread question, I doubt Llorente is the answer or the alternative for the need for genuine pace. He's been bought because Poch doesn't trust Jansenn and I'm more than happy with the signing and hope and expect we will be in for a tricky, pacey player in future windows when we can sign someone good enough and not just waste money on a squad filler who inevitably ends up leaving after a year or two.

It's pretty obvious why this was marked as spam. Do we really need a thread for every idiotic musing somebody has?

He could ask the same pointed question in any number of threads, but instead he wants to attention seek and ensure that everybody hears him out. Can't risk having his semi-coherent rambling lost in the mire of another thread and other posts. He has to be the OP and he has to tell you what's what. He's the man.

There's no need for the OP to call Llorente an "over 30 year old slow striker" - completely over-simplifying what he brings as a player and being pointlessly insulting. For those also perplexed by the reaction to the needlessly negative and inflammatory thread, thinking, "Yeah, I got a load of spams before too!" - it's because you talk a load of bollocks, just like the OP.

The way we set up under Poch with a high line it's more important to have pace in defence, this is an area that the team have been strengthened considerably this window. Majority of teams we play will sit back and play counter attacking football, it's more important for us to have intelligent forward players with good movement. Llorente ticks these boxes, he will be more than a Plan B signing and I expect will be involved heavily this season.

The desire for such a player is understandable given the damage Salah and mane have been inflicting on times, same as the pace that man city attack with.

Ultimately a good pass will always be faster than any player.
As long we ramp up the quickness of our passing instead of the lethargic stuff so far I'm sure we'll be up there competing again.

As for llorente, well he's likely to walk away 10 to 15 goals in all comps I bet. Where as if we'd stuck with janssen.
Maybe a couple pens at best
