Janssen and Kane are both aerial too you know
Kane's header is one of his biggest weaknesses...an aerial threat he is not, you just don't put Llorente an Kane in the same sentence on the subject.

how often does he actually rise above a centre back to make the most of a hanging cross?
I'm not being deliberately facetious at all.
Ok llorente is clearly better than the other 2 in the air but my point being Kane and janssen are good in the air too and both would probably like more crosses into the box too, it's just not the way we play and I can't see us playing a different way for llorente as we have been successful playing our way.
When we were linked to benteke a few days back jj poo pooed it by saying benteke needs lots of crosses and a more direct style of play, then we go out and get someone else who scores most of his goals from crosses.
Don't get me wrong I think llorente is a good player I'm just not sure he is a good fit for us, would love to be proved wrong though
Benteke would have been bought to be our first choice striker. Llorente is a squad player/ backup who offers something different. Not that difficult really. The whole point of having this is to be able to play in a different way if the primary method is failing.

One, that was over two seasons ago. I never said he couldn't do it, I implied it wasn't often.

Two, he doesn't rise above a centre back there. He moves away from the centre back and wins the header pretty much unchallenged. I'm talking forward and centre back, all over each other, leaping for the same ball as the occupy the same space, pretty much attached like lego as they're fully off the ground, and one man coming out on top. Llorente is in the air what Dembele is on the ground.
It's not often because we don't put many high balls into the box
I won't again accuse you of doing it deliberately, but you are being obtuse on this. Don't you think that a manager as tactically adaptable as Pochettino has shown himself to be would have early crosses go into Harry if he felt Harry would thrive off them? It's not often because we don't put many high balls into the box
Rubbish, Kane is more than decent in the air
In what world would benteke be our 1st choice?
Say Kane gets injured for 3 months, do we have to change our whole style to accommodate llorente?
Because generally in football to score goals you play to your strikers strengths.
I went fucking mental when that went in. Good times.
I just cheered that fucker again as I got in the bathI went fucking mental when that went in. Good times.

Also, Llorente has excellent outside the box play anyway, so he's the perfect back up to Harry because of his all round game anyway, but the fact is that he gives us the option, should our manager wish (I threw that in there just for you ) of playing with early crosses against deep defences when necessary.
Wow.I don't agree and I'm sure poch won't either. We are not going to start changing the way we play to accommodate a new player imo.
Crouch has a nice touch to be fair. Llorente has a lot more physicality to go with it though which is a big strength. Looking forward to Davies, eriksen and trips serving them up!We're not talking about Crouchy here, Llorente has more in his locker than winning a header. He's got the ability to hold up the ball and has decent feet for a big man, the fact that he's top drawer in the air is a bonus. He certainly has more to offer than Janssen and provides cover for Kane and allows us to change shape with the possibility of Kane dropping deeper if a game necessitates it.
