Why dont you judge him when he is actually played in his correct position

i agree but tonight and most of the times he has played he has looked poor. too slow in making decisions etc. i was unsure what to do about josh but i think now is the time for a loan for him

19yo kid, played out of position, away at Anfield doesn't have a great game, pull a fucking curtain round him and put him down.
Was he out of position? I am not sure what kind of player he is - he doesn't look like a box to box midfielder - not sure what his position is.

He looks like he doesn't have much self-belief.

My issue with Poch's belief against loaning these youngsters is they will get to 20/21/22 where the majority of their games are in age-group football. They are used to playing with people their own age and aren't prepared for first team football at a high level.

Onomah would learn more out on loan where he'd have to up his level just to earn the respect of the other players and new coaches let alone a place in the team which he won't find here. And that is fine - he's 19.

So we just hold out for three years to see what happens?

Essentially yes, we give him chances to show the talent he has shown in the past that has had Poch, various youth coaches, scouts and youth watches calling him special. Rather than writing him off at 19 after 5 starts in a position he never once played in for the last 4 years

I think we all need some perspective here on the kid - he's clearly a talent but we can't use Harry Kane as the pro-forma to how every one of our prodigies will eventually do.

Onomah needs a loan move, that much is clear as he needs regular first team football in an environment that will toughen him up both physically and mentally with a caveat that it's at a club who at least aspires to play some semblance of progressive football.

Somewhere like Huddersfield under Wagner would be ideal - a forward thinking coach cut from the same cloth as Klopp and away from the bright lights of London.

Why play the poor fucker out of his natural position every time he plays in the 1st XI

That being said some players step up and some don't wherever they are thrown in

Still have hopes for him but didn't do himself any favours tonight

Exactly. What is he? CM? no AM no? Winger ? nope Striker ? no. Beats me.

Its like watching a school kid play with grown ups.

Trips over, picks the wrong option, and generally frustrating. One paced also, and not that strong.

Don't get the 'one paced' bit but the others? Yes I see that. But I see that with young players all the time.

You can't play someone in CM that trips over the ball multiple times in a game.

Harry Kane became a good player after being average at 18

So

Every player that is average at 18 will be as good as Harry Kane?

So we just hold out for three years to see what happens?
Do u even realize what u are saying he is 18/19 years old, how can u write off a player that is clearly technically and physically above his peers. personal i think he needs to mature mentally, he needs to learn the game (his lack of cutting edge to me is a result that he just doesnt know how to get into good scoring postions and how to finish chances off), but as well he seems to lack concentration and mental strength and to me that's down to his age.

He'll get better but needs game time and patience.

We have one of the best young coaches in the game at the moment, why the fuck would we want to ship our biggest talents off to lower league sides to coach.

I'm still struggling to see how Onomah is a 'great young talent/prospect'.
I know it's early days but he doesn't seem to be good at all aspects nor does he stand out with any aspect of his game.
He should of been sent out on loan to get regular playing to bring him on and see what's what.

Thats something we dont have. What is his ceiling? Mid Table prem side? In that case what is the point in waiting?

Hoops you're entitled to your opinion and all that but my god you've spouted some utter tosh this evening. Jeez you make my mum look like she's been on happy pills and she's the most negative, whinny person i've ever met!

Quite clearly he isnt our biggest talent

He is along with Winks, Edwards and CCV.
Now from your perspective that might mean the rest of our youth prospects are all steaming piles of shit but ultimately it doesn't change anything.

If he is 23 and no better then I concede but to judge a player this young is nothing short of idiocy.
