I wonder if he'd be better off playing week in week out in the championship or Eredivisie..
I agree. I think regular starts at a good championship club, somewhere like Huddersfield playing a similar system could do wonders for him.

Good engine and decent movement, but offers zero attacking threat and seems to trip over the ball a lot.

Don't get the hype.

Trips over, picks the wrong option, and generally frustrating. One paced also, and not that strong.

Will always back the kid while he is in Lilly white, but just don't think he will make it here. Think he will have a career at a lesser level of football.
Hope he proves me wrong though.

Agree that he needs a loan if he's got any chance of making it with us. Felt very sorry for Janssen tonight with the service offered by he and Nkoudou.

People lack of understanding about how footballers develop never ceases to amaze me. He is 18, what were 99% of premier league footballers doing at that age? probably stinking up the league cup.

He has great technique and a good turn of pace. His close control is decent and he is strong. He needs to learn plenty about positioning and when to release the ball but those things can be taught.

He will be a good player for sure. This is just part of the development.

19yo kid, played out of position, away at Anfield doesn't have a great game, pull a fucking curtain round him and put him down.

i remember reading similar nonsense before about kane when he was onomah's age.

Harry Kane became a good player after being average at 18

So

Every player that is average at 18 will be as good as Harry Kane?

So we just hold out for three years to see what happens?

I think he should be given more time. With better players around him, I think he would improve.
He is still young.
However, I'm afraid Carroll's time with us is up.

Kane's problem was that he wasn't yet strong enough physically (that includes running as well as holding his own) to blossom. He showed ability and that he would get into the right areas, just had to develop. Most fans with little understanding though expected him to be the finished article and wrote him off.

Onomah to me looks very much the same. He cant quite handle the speed and rhythm yet of this level of football and do what he wants to do with the ball. He might make it, he might not ultimately, but we wont know until he's gone from 'boy to man'. At this stage its just dumb to make judgement..

Been saying for a while until he develops more physically we will struggle to see him influence first team games. He has brillaint technique and dembelesque dribbling skills but we fail to sthese integral parts of his game because he gets knocked off the ball too easily. In the youth teams kids would bounce off him because he was one of the most physically developed fore his age group but he really needs to adapt his game at men's level as he can't match many players for strength.
