This is probably controversial and I am expecting disagreement, but if some team was willing to overpay for Tripper on the back of a great WC (say roundabouts 30mil) I would strongly consider it if I were Levy. I like Trips and I think he is better at the current moment than Aurier--though I am not giving up on Aurier yet--but I still think he has his limitations, especially against top teams and pacy wingers unless he has some solid protection behind him in a back 3. In terms of a complete RB/RWB, I am most excited about KWP and really hope he has the time to blossom this year. Not wishing Trips gets sold by any means, but would not be upset if he goes for a good chunk.

I think the question is how Poch wants to setup.

With a back three Trippier’s strengths are used well. If we continue to use this formation at all, I think we will, then he is a valuable asset.

Having Trippier and a quick wing back allows us to change formations.

For this I would rather we kept him.

Of course I did. But I’m sure most would say they are slightly surprised by his level of performance. I doubt even his most fervent supporters would have expected him to be 3rd only to de Bruyne and neymar in key passes.

Not sure about that he gets a lot of assits for us and did so for burnley aswell.

We played most of last season in a 4231 formation though. I agree though he looks better as a wing back than a RB

We did but it is good to be able to to change it up a bit.

Trippier with a back three or a workman like midfielder to cover him can be a very dangerous weapon.

What about him as a RM? Most of our Ams prefer the left or centre. You'd have his delivery on the right with the likes of KWP or Aurier overlapping.

I must admit I was wondering about maybe getting him to convert into a right winger. Would that mess up our wingback system though?

Indeed I agree. I really enjoyed watching us at the end of the 16/17 season when we used a 3421 formation. Dier slotted in great alongside Jan and Toby. It allowed Trippier and walker to get much further forward than in a 4231 formation. I didn’t really understand why we went back to 4231 last season but I always assumed it was due to our depth in attacking midfielders as Poch was forced to leave one out of a three at the back formation,

All depends on the formation we deploy. We haven’t played with one that uses a winger for a number of years. That traditional role has almost disappeared from the premiership with most teams choosing 433 or 4231, with the occasional side going for 3421 or 343.

My views on KWP are well know and long standing, Ive always maintained he should have been playing sooner and should have been No.2 last season, and that he has the potential to be better than Trippier, Aurier and Walker (senior). But Trippier started our wins over Liverpool, Real Madrid, ManU, Arsenal & Chelsea (just about all of our big game wins), so to say he struggles in big games isn't really a truism, and the only guy who gave him a torrid time was Sane away at City (Sane was actually subbed off at our place and Trippier was fine) and Sane has roasted everyone at some pint, and all our RB's ave been roasted by someone, including Walker.

I don't think Trippier is world class or anything, but I'd sooner sell Aurier and have Trippier and KWP personally.

Trips people were negotiating a new contract pre world cup. I doubt very much he will leave this Summer.

I am not normally one for banging the drum to always promote youth team players for the sake of it ( unless I can see tangible evidence to my eyes that it wouldn’t weaken the squad).

In this case though I’ve seen enough of KWP to be find with this scenario, and sell Aurier if we can get a decent offer.

I know there is always a danger of judging a player in his first season, but there are aspects of Aurier’s game that I am sceptical can be coached out of him in his mid 20’s and his sale could put a bit more in the kitty to spend bigger elsewhere in the squad on real quality.

£30m is pennies for a key player in today's market. A replacement of similar ability would cost more. We only got Aurier for £23m because he was a bench player pushing for a move, had rejected a new contract, has been convicted for assualt and generally has an iffy attitude, and PSG had to sell someone (FFP). Trippier is a better player, he hasn't handed in a transfer request and we don't have any need to sell, so is worth significantly more.
