Shame Yedlin didn't work out. That lad had some serious pace.

I've seen him put in a few decent shifts this season at Newcastle.

5,8? 5,9?

Lahm was 5,7 and one of best full backs of all time but he has pace, unreal positional ability, reading of the game and passing etc.

Whose to say that KWP won't develop those qualities if given chances to develop? He is highly rated by our youth experts and has already won an U20 World Cup playing on his weaker (left side).

He's taller than Lahm, he wasn't too shabby.

Always thought KWP shared a few traits with him. Long way to go but I don't think it's a mad comparison.

Versatile in position, moves with and without the ball well, tenacious, passes the ball well, consistent.

Obviously not world class or even a regular starter for a top team but a lot of characteristics match up. I'm sure I could find plenty on this site alone to highlight his qualities and people's expectations of him.

Davies being a good defender saves him as going forward he is about a 5/10
Your talking complete guff, he was one of our star players start of season, you don't score 2 goals and afew assists from wingback if your 5/10.

Some serious underrating on him in here, done his best at wing back too being one of our most creative players.

If KWP is ready to replace him then why isn't he getting any game time?
integrating academy players is not that straightforward at all especially in the middle of a season. These sort transitions are much more easily done in the summer.

Average going forwards. Above average defensively.

Selling him would be a bit extreme after 1 bad game where he was played out of position, with no cover.
The only way this makes sense if MP has decided a back 4 is just as comfortable as the back 3/5 plus we can play son.
If Trips has to have a heavier defensive responsibility, then this was never his strength so perhaps he should move on.

But he is hardly alone in being uncomfortable in a back 4 - Sanchez and Lloris are all over the place too.

So why is he a 5? Not that I care.

5/10 is average. So if you were saying he was average going forward and average at defending Your 5/10 might make more sense but your saying he’s above average at defending.

Anyway, as others have said, popping up with a couple of goals and getting a few assists in the first half of the season is hardly average imo.

But we had last summer to do that when we knew that Walker would be off. He's not playing now because he's not quite as good as the other two. Personally I can't see the sense in selling Trippier in January in a world cup year when it looks like he'll probably make the squad. I guess it all depends on how much we're offered though.

I'd be very surprised if we cash in on Trippier in January. Whatever you think about him, he's played often this season and to then discard him would be very ballsy.

I'm all for our academy players to get their chance. I just can't see Poch doing it in a position which is so important to his way of playing given he rotates every other game. It's different for a midfield player or forward who can come on for cameos here and there to get used to senior football but full back is a very isolated role where you have to look after yourself. For that KWP would need an extended run of games. It would be a pleasant surprise if Poch does it but I don't believe he'll take that gamble. The second half of the season is when you have to click through the gears, not time for experiments.

On the other hand I can certainly believe this season will be Trippier's last. Having four senior full backs in the match-day squad is overkill and KWP can cover both full back positions which can allow an extra forward player to be on the bench next season.

Interesting one this. IF KWP has progressed in training with the senior squad to a point where Poch trusts him as a starter then I can see Trips going. We really benefit from fast WB/FB's and with Walker and Rose we had the width in attack and enough recovery pace.

Trippier is a damn good player and I can see him wanting to be a first choice starter week in week out. I can see him fitting well at Leicester.

on a more prosaic level, I'm not sure many clubs are in the market to spend on a RB in January.

hertyid on leicester rumours: I've been told the Trip story is total bullshit. I wouldn't pay much attention. He wants to play because it's World Cup year but he has made 16 starts already this year and will get plenty of gametime as we move into busy season Jan through to April. Poch has spent two years developing KT from an unfit 25 year old with untapped potential into an England international, he's not about to let him walk away. And even then who is the replacement? Losing one RB in a year is bad, losing two is just careless.

From what I hear, call it my personal opinion; we would listen to good offers in the summer for Tripps. KWP also getting restless, and wants a loan. He won’t hang around after his loan period, or sign an extension to his new contract-if it was offered.

Make your own choices and opinions on that.

Poch press conference also suggests KWP wants the loan or a permanent move, so your sources seem pretty accurate.

Is he any good?

Like, could he seriously challenge Aurier’s position in the team? Because that’s what we need.

I feel that if Trippier goes in January it would be the best time to start introducing KWP. Let's face it at the start of this season or next season if KWP was our 2nd choice RB people would panic we would have a whole season with an untested player as our backup. If Trippier goes in January KWP would have less games to rotate in rather than a whole season. He could play in the FA Cup matches, and against the 'lesser' PL teams if people are that concerned. I personally wouldn't care if he played against Juve but I know others would panic, even though Bertrand made his Chelsea debut in a CL final against Barcelona.

KWP can then rotate when necessary into games and if he really does panic, then Dier can always go to RB in an emergency situation with Wanyama coming back. We all know that if next season starts and KWP still hasn't played there will be calls to sign a new back up RB as:
we can't go into a season with a 2nd choice RB who has no experience
KWP hasn't played a whole season so to expect him to rotate each game and play a full-season is a big demand on someone who hasn't played a lot

and eventually there will be no time for him to ever get experience, unless, Trippier stays and he is loaned out for 2nd half of the season, and Trippier can go in the summer

One of the best players I've got to watch in the academy, dominating games from RB. Always thought he has massive potential, however as Poch doesn't want him to play u23 matches no one can see him play anymore, though in his only PL game he has a MOTM award. Why would he want to hang around when he sees his contemporaries getting games elsewhere.

Last RB we developed that was good enough for the PL, never got a chance here, he left and eventually proved himself to be PL ability, funnily enough he took the same road as Trippier, who had to leave City to eventually get back to the PL. Imagine how good Smith might have been had he stayed around better players under a quality manager. KWP is better than Smith imo
