As i said davies played 27 times last season. 12 of them in the league. Danny Rose played 34 games total.

If we play two games in a week i can see the fullbacks being rotated. 1 may be preferred for the league and the other for cups but they will be rotated. They use too much energy running up and down the wings to play too many games.

That's A team and B team shit though. I know it's a squad game and all that but the fact rose played the majority of league games suggests Poch rates him more, well, for last season at least

True, but at least Davies was given plenty of time to play himself into the A team, he just didn't do enough to outshine Rose.

When we played two league games in a week they were rotated as well.

There's a clear and noticeable difference between the way Poch rotates full backs and the way he rotates the rest of the team. As Lilbaz says, if we've two games in a week, no matter the competition full backs will be rotated due to the pure distance they cover running up and down the flanks. Havng Trippier and Walker for right back and Rose and Davies for left back equips our squad for this in a way we didn't see at any point last season.

I get that. What I'm saying is, some games are more important than others. Fr example, in the Europa group stage, I'd imagine poch will play our second string team. You can call that rotation if you like, it is, but it's rotating the first choice players with squad players.

That's not to say squad players can't impress and replace the premier league players, they can,but the league wil still be priority, IMO.

I think having Trippier in the side over Walker would bring out better performances or a better return from Kane and Lamela, or whoever happens to play on the right side of midfield, due to his passing and crossing ability, but in terms of raw all-round ability, I reckon Walker has more to offer.

Creativity isn't always about threaded through balls or needle-in-a-haystack passes. Trippier's crossing could be really really useful in breaking down teams that intend to come to WHL and just sit on their own 22 for the entire match. He brings something that we haven't seen much of at the Lane in recent years.

His assist for Carroll's goal was sublime. Must start against manure.

Yeah, he impressed me greatly last night but it was no great surprise, having watched him play for Burnley last season. He was one of their really bright stars. I think we've bought a real contender for Walker's place here, and listening to him answer reporters questions after the match yesterday, he sounds like a really level headed young man. I think he has a great future for club and country, hopefully, with us.

It's no contest. Walker will be #2. Poch seems to give players a chance to recover their form (see rose) but tripp will be #1 very soon. I'm sure poch is aware how much more effective he his than walker: already blocked more balls into the box than I've seen walker do all last season, put more crosses in than walker, made much more intelligent runs and played much more intelligent balls than walker has in months. And tripp isn't a slouch either, he's got some heat in those heels.

We've needed this for ages. Excellent acquisition.

yeah I was really skeptical that he could win the starting spot for the opener at OT considering Poch's way of doing things.

But I think Poch's way of doing things could now have tipped the scales. If he has matched in training what he has succeeded in doing in the friendlies we have seen, he could and should start at OT.

The only question is...will he be fit enough and have recovered enough to go 90' 3 days later?

I didn't get a chance to watch Burnley that much last season, but been very impressed with him so far. Great addition.

I couldn't disagree more. As an athlete Walker is definitely superior but in terms of technical ability he is way behind Trippier. He can't cross, looks uncomfortable running with the ball and consistently makes wrong decisions.

It's very early days but it's looking like steal of the window for the amount we've paid.

Trippier is a hungry player and we have bought him at a crucial time in his career. Walker has a lot to worry about and I hope it will push him on.

He adds a really interesting new dimension to our play with his passing and crossing. He also looks to have quite a bit of pace which I didn't expect. From what I've seen preseason he should start at UTD and KAne should be licking his lips at the prospect of some real service from the sides. Rose is better than Davies so far, but Davies also has good crossing ability.

Has Trippier played a minute for us yet, or am I missing something? Do we think he is going to get a chance this Thursday? He was included in the UEFA A List wasn't he?

I'll be surprised if he isn't starting on Thursday.
