What do you think the difference would be between signing Tapsoba and Tosin near or on deadline day compared to singing them say last week?

Is it a point or 2? A place or 2 in the league? Do we miss out on top 4 or Europe all together?

I guess we’ll find out after the first few games 🤷🏼‍♀️

I actually wasn’t referring to Lenglet, I was referring to first point made in the original comment (about the likelihood of having no new CB’s, for the opening of the season)

Things can move quickly indeed, it’s just a real shame to say the least, that we don’t seem to have our priorities straight.
If we don’t have a new centre back by the end of this week, I agree I think it’s rubbish.

We won’t, though. This was part of the issue I took with Trix’s post was that even in the event we play Dier and Romero in our opening game(s) and sign Tapsoba on deadline day, unless you have access to a parallel universe where you can see how events would’ve unfolded had we signed Tapsoba or whoever in July, there’s no way to tell if us dropping points in our opening games had anything to do with that. What if we drop points because of something completely different, what I’d we miss 2 penalties or miss 3 sitters from 6 yards out. What if Dier has a great game for 90mins and makes one mistake in injury time and we lose 1-0. There’s a million different things to consider.

Nobody can predict what will happen, all I know is that I’d feel a lot more confident with new CB’s.

Let’s just hope collectively as a team, everyone does their job adequately, until we get the reinforcements.

I expect our squad to look a lot different tbh, after the window closes.

I agree it is 100% preferable to get new players in early but I also think having Dier in the first game or 2, while it could cost us points, it’s also pretty minimal in terms of overall damage. I’m much more concerned, and think it’s much more likely, that Tapsoba or whoever isn’t as good as we thought and/or takes time to adapt to the league and thus costs us more pints than say Dier in the opening couple of games.

I agree with what you’re saying, though. Most important thing is getting everyone on board and fighting for each other. That’s what I want to see in those opening couple of games

I am in no way convinced that VdV is the right person to fill the gap in our defence. I can see us buying him, him turning it to be shit, then the same people that are whinnying about our reticence to pull the trigger will be whinnying about us having pulled the trigger on the wrong player...... Happens too often with us. It's as if we persuade ourselves that the player we're linked with is better than he actually is just because we want us to buy someone..... Anyone!

Excusing something that hasn’t happened is something no-one is doing.
When you say, “something that hadn’t happened” are you talking about upgrading our CBs? Because for sure that’s “something that hasn’t happened” for 3 years and 6 windows despite multiple managers requesting that it did. There are plenty of posters trying to justify that historical failure. If that changes before the season starts, we can all breathe a huge sign of relief; if it doesn’t you can continue to make excuses for that recurring “oversight” as is your right. But don’t expect others to submit to your level of patience, acceptance or acquiescence as is our right. Football is an emotional business and people have the right to feel what they feel about the current situation without you constantly trying to police them.

What mate? They’ve not subconsciously excused anything. They’re just saying it’s maybe not an amazing idea to get angry about something that is still possible.
No that’s absolutely fair, you have every right to keep your powder dry and wait until the end of the window before getting angry. But, and for the record, if Levy does fail to upgrade our CBs will you be back here to publicly express your anger and denounce that failure?
I think anyone who’s paid attention to your largely Board/Levy-supplicant posts over the years is pretty confident that you won’t.

You know my view on this - and I await a response from you as I think albeit the position is the same the player isn’t. Given Ange has to deal with Porro as his right back (cheers Antonio and cheers Daniel for sanctioning that) at least he might get the chance to have his sort of pacey CB rather than Mourinho or Conte’s version.

Again. If we don’t have a centre back soon that’s infuriating and disappointing all rolled into one.

Why havent ENIC drawn down that remaining £50 million from last summer to buy him or Tapsoba. They could do, but havent, which tells me they dont really deep down want to buy a new centre back. It's fucking bizarre.
Probably count it towards Maddison and Vicario

You gonna be like the bloke who had a go at me for not posting about Spurs transfer failings whilst I was dealing with my daughter being ill the year before last? I’ll make sure to post John. Don’t worry. Subject to life not getting in the way.

Wow wait a minute I had no idea that your daughter was ill last year mate. I’m terrible sorry to hear that. I hope above all else she’s fully recovered Stoof. Nothing is more important that family and health of loved ones. It puts all the other trivial nonsense we worry or bicker about into perspective. Sincere best wishes to you and your little girl mate x

Don’t worry! Was 18 months ago mate. Just remember someone sticking the boot in that I didn’t post and I blew up a bit in a “YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M DEALING WITH” way.

Will happily say my piece if COYS Danny lives up to the majority’s expectations.

Little Stoofette is full of beans - quite literally like her windy father - and in tip top health. Little people eh! Nightmare.

So we didn't spend 42m on Romero 2 years ago? Was he not an upgrade?

Your comment about people being policed is particularly funny, considering your over zealous use of the off topic button...

This is why we never win trophies. Our competitors will pay over the odds to get their key targets. We won’t. We can say our way is the right to run a business and a football club, but ultimately it means we never win. It’s hard to understand what the point of Spurs is: just to extract money from us mugs.

I’m also just confused why if Tapsoba and Van den Ven are too expensive, we can’t find someone cheaper? Our CBS performed so badly last season that it can’t be difficult to find someone better?

neither am I. Its concerning the lack of links to anyone else in the media. You'd think we would have 4 or 5 options.
