Slightly narrow way to view things ... just by looking at those two stats ... if you look at modric’s stats for Madrid he doesn’t score much either ... (not looked up his assists )... should we call him poor too ??
There is a lot more to a football than looking at stats ...
I said it's a poor return not that he's a poor player. Look at what I wrote, there would be a good place to start :D

And seeing as you brought Modric up as a comparison, according to what I found, last season he got more assists than Dembele has managed in the entire time he's been at Spurs. So I think suggesting that's a poor return is entirely fair.

Personally so would keep Dembele if a reasonable deal could be done. Manage his game time use him as a substitute or from the start depending on the opposition. When we need to keep the ball he is your man.

He's finished. I said it two summers ago.

Last season was a step too far, you could see it in the big games especially, but he was losing the ball often and generally getting out-muscled and outpaced. It's no coincidence that his best game for us last season was Juventus away where he was magnificent but the slower pace of the game in Europe suited him.

Whereas last season was clearly a step to far, this season is a write off. Injuries not withstanding, there is no way he would have been as effective as Sissoko has been for us. Sissoko was brilliant particularly yesterday defensively and offensively and that is something Dembele simply can't offer us anymore.

I also don't think Winks and Dembele are an ideal CM partnership. Whereas Sissoko and Winks has to me a good balance, one offers pace and power and an amazing engine, the other has good technical ability and is far more cultured.

Dembele's time is up, sad to see but there's no way he makes a comeback for us now.

The disrespect for Dembele is utterly insane but not surprising. You can pretty much guarantee that people would be desperately clamoring for him to come back if we were languishing in 6th and Sissoko hadn't turned his form around.

I do agree that his legs are gone but would still be happy if he stayed. We could do with him being back from injury asap, particularly for the CL tie.

The writing was on the wall last season, when he clearly looked passed it, he's now another year older, another year more injury ravaged. The guy even admits himself that his body can't take the rigors of PL football anymore.

He should move to Italy where I think he could still play for another couple of seasons in a slower paced league. That said, if he can't keep himself fit, not many clubs will go in for him at all.

absolutely not, he was a beast last year, he had a stretch were he dominated juve twice, united, arsenal's and Chelsea's midfield. He still is a quality player, we just cant run him into the ground. Poch has to pick and choose the matches we use him in.

He was inconsistent to the extreme and had as many poor games as good ones last season. He did put together a good run in the spring but I would challenge anyone who watched him play and didn't think his legs had gone. I think that run of games you mentioned was his last hurrah, I'd be amazed if he came back into the fold now and started dominating games again but maybe I'm wrong.

What is undeniable is his body is pretty broken now. Can't see how that gets better with his age.

I really don't get how anyone could want him gone, not only because his performances are no where near as bad as some are making out, but because of the sheer lack of options we even have in the centre of midfield.

For as long as our options are so short in this position, we can't even consider letting him go IMO.

On his day Dembele is the best CM in the premier league! Every spurs player from the past 3 seasons has named him players player and that speaks volumes. He's such a rare player built like a truck but with the agility of a mouse.

Unfortunately, he has always been suffering from a foot injury most his career and has said early on he would never be able to play even at 90% his best. Its obviously starting to get worst and I don't see DL offering him a new contract or any club taking him in January while he's not fit. Most likely would leave on free in the summer but I still see him playing a part in the second half of the season when he's back fit!

I think it's telling that we are playing better without him.

That's not disrespect because we all know what a good player he's been.

I think if Monaco are serious it would be a good move for all party's.

Shit yes. There’s no question about it but I think it’s bollocks. He’s injury prone- not the sort of player you can rely on to dig you out of a hole if they struggle with fitness and have barely played this season

That City kit is eye squirmingly ugly

It’s colours are reminiscent of old Barca away kits, it’s proper cringeworthy how desperate they are to copy them, from administrators to coaches to kits, rather than just establish themselves in their own image despite all the money in the world

I posted this on reddit as well

We shouldn’t sell Dembele in January imo because when he comes back from his injury he can still be a very important player for us if we manage him correctly and carefully
This season he’s played 13 games, 2 CL Games (both starts) 10 PL games (7 starts, 2 he came off injured) and 1 substitute in the Carabao Cup
When he came on against Newcastle, Fulham and West Ham and Watford in the Carabao cup which he got the assist for the winning goal he played brilliantly, if we use him as a super sub he can still be a good player because he comes up against tired legs, and in games we’re winning we can take him on to keep possession

His contract ends in the summer and I much rather let him go for free than for a small amount now in January, we need as many players possible we’re still in 4 competitions

And even if we did sign a CM in January that player will need time to adapt

2 summers ago? At one point last season he was by far and away our best player. He completely bossed Man U, Liverpool and the goons with an absolute masterclass in every game. Throw in the mix Juve away and bit harsh to say he didn't perform in all the big games.

Agree he'll prob not be what he was due to fitness and his age but itbmust be worth giving him a chance if he can put this last round of injuries behind him.

As great as Winks and Sissoko have been we lack that real top player in the middle and can't see us signing anyone to fill that gap any time soon.

I still really don't understand people advocating selling a seasoned central midfielder, when we will probably bring no one in and where we're so short in central midfield, with currently only two experienced options and a young prospect. All it takes is for just one of Dier, Sissoko or Winks to become injured and we're left painfully short again, as promising as Skipp may be. I can't even bring Wanyama into the equation to be honest.

It's not even just about hoping Dembele can perform outstandingly for us still, it's about him being able to fill in and do a reasonable job (which I still certainly think he can do) to allow other and maybe better options to gain a rest and remain fit.

I totally get people thinking Dembele is done, but I think a lot of people are being quite disrespectful which is probably why some people are getting not happy on here.

Dembele is without a doubt one of the most gifted footballers we have ever had but he needed Poch earlier in his career. What he has done for us was take a soft underbelly and give us power. He was our machine for years and years and we should never forget that. It's just a shame injuries have effectively robbed us of one of our best players. If he does leave, we all need to remember what he helped to start and not harp on about his time is up and legs are gone, or lack of end product. He was the engine of our midfield for years and a fcuking great one when fit. The way he won the ball back and then take on 3 or 4 players like he playing FIFA.
