Good point about him not having had a preseason and also joining us last minute. Although that doesn't explain his technical deficiencies we should be patient while he gets up to speed over the next month.

I wouldn't start him in the next 2 games though.

Must give players a chance to settle

Agreed but trends tend to continue and if people are counting on him to turn into some crazy goal threat or silky passer they are confused. I do think we could see a slight uptick in goals, but let's also be realistic.

- New team,
- new scheme,
- historically not a offensive stat stuffer,
- offers pace, Direction
- power and strength

Let's not get ahead of ourselves but also let's give the dude a chance.

Interesting window for sure: all power vs technical acumen

Let's not get caught up on his price tage, crazy fees went about this year and taking inflation into account it was a 20m purchase at best. But for that money like Cravenspurs has said..... let's be realistic.

He is a power house, he is direct and we haven't got many players that. Squad is all about blance and different options, he is the type of player that gets the attention of the other team, they will be worried about his pace and potentially double up etc creating space for others. When we play with Alli, Lamela and Eriksen they don't have that ability to blast past a player and might be easier to set up against.

He is a great addition to our team, because he is different and versatile. Very happy to add his pace and No Kan pace to our technically talented AM pool.

The thing is his pace is like a full backs pace. All straight lines. He lacks true acceleration and the technique to play against deep lines, which we'll see more often against us. GKN has pace but also acceleration and a much better centre of gravity which will help in these tight spaces. People often expect Sissoko to be a Mané type signing, when they have completely different skill sets.

I don't think anyone has said Sissoko is a Mane type sigining, clearly that's GKN. Accelaration isn't always key, with his pace we can break from deep a lot quicker and that's where it can be really utilised, plus he can also just bulldoze his way through, different options give us varitey.

I thought he played well first 20 mins. 2nd half he looked like he was struggling fitness wise (aerobic).

I expected Sissoko to be a player to break lines in the middle third of the pitch the way Dembele can. Admittedly Sissoko is more brute force whereas Dembele can stand anyone up and go past them. With Sissoko or Dembele doing that it should give our flair attackers more space in the final third. Having said all that, he's playing as a wide attacker for us so will need more guile in the final third.

It's not our money but I still don't like us overspending on a player. If he was 10m I don't think anyone would have an issue with him

But he is our record signing

When i used to play pro evo i was super shit but one thing i had in my locker is a pass out wide and get the player out wide to run in a straight line as fast as he can... basically i was too lazy to move my thumbs often so it was all straight lines, no tricks etc even passing was in straight line.

Sissoko is a straight line player. Perhaps the zoolander of football.

Knee Jerk Central

I really think we need to ban the phrase 'knee-jerk.' It kills debate.

Many people discussing Sissoko when we were rumoured tobe interested said he wasn't of the quality we needed and when Newcastle needed their players to step up he didn't.

So negative views on Sissoko for many are far from knee jerking and using the term is just a cheap way to dismiss people's opinions.

I like his physicality and felt a player with a bit more strength was needed in our front four. His passing isn't up to scratch and we will see him being wasteful. Don't think this is anything to do with his settling in period, just think it's his level as a player.

But he does get involved so can see him getting some goals.

He's crap end of, waste of money we bought him because he played good for France or what he did at Newcastle

Why didn't we just let Everton have him, we didn't even need him

Since we signed him I've had two toon fans warn me to expect the sort of performance he gave yesterday!

I'm not a fan of him as a player but I'm praying he makes me a fan. I want him to do well obviously. One thing that's not acceptable, especially in this team, is lack of effort. I thought he shirked a few challenges yesterday and was tracking back half-hearted. Hopefully just a settling in issue

We ought to have a vetting system to keep out the gooners, rather like the labour party does to keep out the trotskyites...

I think Sissoko either had diarrhoea all night or took a bang on the head in the warm-up. That display was a cause for concern.
