I agree that it's not good reading people writing him off completely but they are entitled to their opinion.

We have bought a 27 year old for a club record fee. Unfortunately a signing like that is for the player to make an immediate impact.

If we had a full strength team available Sissoko wouldn't get in the team. I think people struggle with that idea.
And you really believe DL paid 30m? Does not work like that.

He gives us much better strength in depth which might be enough to win us something this season. If that happens it's money well spent.

I was one of the ones pretty happy to sign him, but I'm unconvinced with playing him on the right of the attacking three. Would much rather see him in the centre.

Sissoko has shown glimpses of what a good player he can be, he just lacks consistency and he was playing amongst some utter shit at Newcastle under average managers. It's evidently clear that he needs some confidence and direction just like most players when they hit walls, don't know why people think that won't happen with Sissoko...Dembele is the only experienced player to improve because he put his head down and put the work in now if the manager deems Sissoko worthy enough and thinks he can improve him then why isn't that good enough for some of you?

I'm not having a go at you for having a cautios opinion it's the people calling him an out and out waste of money even though he's only been here for a month knowing full well that the manager has signed him because he thinks he can get the best out of him, I think we ought to give him a chance at least.

A couple of things to debate. Should we have shelled out 30m on a player who needs to improve? I'd say that sort of money should buy you the finished article. Wouldn't someone like Yarmolenko have fitted the bill for probably a fair bit less? Second point, if he's been brought in as a right sided attacking midfielder he doesn't fit in with Poch's inverted winger preference. I can't really see how or where he fits in to be honest. I don't see him as a first choice and yet he's our record signing which seems bizarre. Maybe Levy just negotiated a well structured deal as was widely reported but even so it strikes me as a very strange one.

Pretty obvious having no option other than inverted wingers has been a problem, with us often too predictable and narrow. Pochettino has clearly recognised that.

The fullbacks provide the width though. Them getting forward and the way Dier drops between the CBs has been very successful. Seems to me that a conventional wide midfielder will be getting in the way quite a lot.

We can't just play one way or it becomes incredibly predictable and easy to defend against.

I've seen a few comments around the interwebs about comparisons to Lamela/Son in terms of judging players too quickly. And obviously we should give Sissoko time, but it's not really the same situation. Lamela and Son came into a different country with a different language, Sissoko hasn't. So it's reasonable to have less patience.

My view is that he's never really shown enough to be a £30m player at a top CL club, so naturally people are going to be a bit down on him. In certain games with space to run into he can look like a worldie (like against us on the last day of the season), but other than those specific situations he doesn't have much at all that stands out. I think, technically, he's the worst of any of our attacking midfielders.

My optimistic view of his Spurs career is that he can become an important squad player. Somebody who can play an important role in tough away games because of his work rate and physical attributes. But I can't foresee him ever becoming an important first team player for us. Which is a bit weird when you consider his fee. But hopefully as he gets fitter and settles in he will start showing something that he didn't show at Newcastle.

I'm hoping that we play a different game plan then he is used to, as he seems to take split second longer to react then you would like, and then he seems to struggle with a soft first touch, needs a bit longer before we can start talking about him not good enough,
I know when I've started new jobs in the past I haven't blown my colleagues away with skills on day 1. In fact some of them might say I never did :) let's hope he turns out be a better performer then me

Did not travel to Russia with team as he has an injury. Its clear that his pre season wasn't as comprehensive and thorough as it should have been. He's still coming to grips with the team and intensity of play. Hate to say it but we won't see the best of him till he gets his fitness up.

Perhaps a concussion from that hit to the jaw when he had to come off? Or maybe he's just not match fit enough yet.

Give Sissoko time guys, in general, a lot of you are way too quick to write off players before they have even had time to truly settle and adapt to our philosophy.

Yes we paid 30mil for him, but we have to be patient to see his true potential for us.

Don't know if it's just me but I thought he did a really good job for the team today. Well played Moussa.
