oh ffs he won us the game
Hard to know that when I didn't see the game lol.

What did he do though, good direct runs, crosses, can someone give an overview of his performance.

Promising that he's starting to have more of a positive impact but at the end of the day he was £30mil so he should be one of the first names on the team sheet really and he should be showing quality to reflect this.

Based on this cameo if he played like he did for a whole game, would be be starting in our best XI yet?

Direct running and dribbling, a few nice passes, ran with the ball and assisted for Rose's goal, played in Son for a great chance he should have scored from. I would start him in the next game.

Apparently a lot of the "pundits" are saying that Sissoko was lucky to be on the pitch...

I know he's been bad but if Pochettino can't give him game time against Burnley then when can he... :D:troll:

TBF, he shifted the balls quite quick for a man his size. Like a powerful Alli, but when he drops his shoulder and push the ball forward into space away from the defenders, he is gonna win every direct run every fucking single time. That's what's I really like about him, not being afraid to go past players romping through them. Look at the spaces he opened up for others when he did that. If Winks could be mentioned in bringing another dimension of play with his quick passing, so can Sissoko IMO with his penetrative runs. Also really hope to see Janssen back soon and play with Sissoko. These two players will be so hard to defend against and draw players to them, players like Son and Alli could be the biggest benefactors.

I loved his performance. Definitely changed the game for us when he came on. He is starting to look like a good addition to the squad.

Starting to look more like the player we've seen scare the shit out of us on several occasions. Have been saying ever since he made his debut that I can't see him as a wide player. He's far more effective bursting through the middle. This does mean I can't see him holding down a regular spot, unless we change our system, but it looks like he will be able to make a good contribution after all and offer something different to what we have.

He will always frustrate though as he is a bulldozer with little to no finesse, and I can't see him getting on the score sheet too often.

He needs credit for his cameo. Despite all his limitations and he has that in abundance he is definitely a solid alternative plan

But lets not ignore the fact he could/should have been sent off twice already and could have cost us points in both those games

Last year we moaned about the lack of pace and directness to our play, he brings that. I just still can't get over how much fun people got on here laughing at him and wishing him to fuck up when he has hardly kicked a ball for us.

Poch is unlike anything he has experienced at Newcastle, he's finally looking a little fitter and starting to get our tempo. I've seen him dominate teams before including us, okay this isn't a regular thing but against Arsenal as well he has destroyed them, if we can get a consistency to his game he will be very valuable. Ok his technique is like a cave man, but no one can question his physicality and power. That is a skill set in its self, plus he got an assist, so clearly he can pass and isn't a dumb arse. Shame Kane and Son yesterday didn't play in people, could have made the game a lot easier.

Dare I say it, he's a bums off seats player when he goes on those runs, more of that please Moussa. Been very good the last few outings.

He gives us something which we didn't have and for that reason alone he should prove to be a decent signing.

Dyche is complaining about Sissoko but, whilst his foot was high, you can see he immediately tries to pull out of the challenge. I think the ref sees that and gives him a yellow accordingly.

Dyche will use that as a reason for us winning the game but there was a far worse challenge in the first half from Barnes on Dembele, which i thought was a straight red. He could have broken Mousa's leg with that one, and he subsequently got away with a couple of other challenges after that.

In any case, Sissoko did really well when he came on and has clearly responded well to Poch's comments. Rightly so.

A quick glance on

http://www.transfermarkt.com/moussa-sissoko/leistungsdaten/spieler/46001/plus/0?saison=ges

Shows that in his career he has played

219 games for Toulouse
77
as a CM
45
as a AM
21
as a RM

133 games for Newcastle
53
as a RM
46 as a AM
26
as a CM

It is clear that he has not played his entire career on the right wing. In fact he posted up his best scoring and assisting numbers playing as an AM for both Newcastle and Toulouse.

In a perfect world we would switch to a 433 or even better play him next to Dele/Eriksen in the 4141, something like

----------Wanyama----------

---Lamela---Sissoko --- Eriksen ---- Son--

Kane

Use his size and attributes to benefit the team, he looked a threat for France in Euro's when he played more centrally and made those bombing runs towards the opposition goal.

Did a search on this thread because I wanted to see if this was picked up on.

As lame as it may sound, my first knowledge of Sissoko came from Football Manager. He had really good balanced stats across the board and was a bit of a legend in that game. Cheap to buy from Toulouse and always played well in game. The reason I mention it though is that he was listed as a clear CM back then. Before Newcastle bought him we were linked to him, some years back now obviously. I remember watching youtube vids of his strong, direct running in the Toulouse CM and thought he looked very handy. When Toon signed him I recall he started as a CM but ended up moving more and more out to the right wing over time which I think led to him being less and less effective for them.

The kid is not a winger imo, never has been and never will be. He can do it to some extent but needs to be more central or at the very least be right side in a narrow midfield 3 where he can be regularly overlapped by a full back.

It seems like he's getting his chances more centrally now so I hope that continues. To me he has the skillset to be more like a Dembele type than some sort of bulky winger. There's a valuable player here for us if we can get the best out of him.

He played the ball to Rose that gave us the winner. For me he did his job yesterday when he came on which is great! But I am also not going to get carried away and say he is all of a sudden a starting 11 member because I just don't see 90 minutes of him being all that effective. As I stated in the transfer window he is a good bench/squad player for sub appearances at best and yesterday was a good example of that.

But please people don't act like yesterday was some worldy performance. His pass to Rose was simple, if he botched that this board would have a different tone. His long field cross to Son I believe near the end of the game on a counter was also something he had to do. A simple flighted ball that 99% of professional footballers should be able to hit.

So in short yes he helped us yesterday so good on him. But be weary of those saying he should start cause people, this is the Sissoko that has been playing in the PL for years. 90 minutes of him week in and week out will leave you asking for more heroin.
