If Porro is a ‘compromise’ from Conte then who on Earth does he actually want at RWB! There really aren’t many better around than Porro.

It's because we already in Levy's eyes have 3 rwb's. At least one needs to go.
Which is correct. However the order he wants to do it in, and the price he will demand for those RWBs, is what always puts us on the back foot

City buying him back is the one. Could see them stepping in if a deal gets close.
Between Walker, Cancelo and now Lewis, I can't see why City would do this.

Also flying wing backs simply aren't Pep's style. He wants his full-backs to be closer to midfielders than wide players, with the wingers holding the width.

Why do you think we'd get back what we paid for him given how much he's flopped? And who would pay that? We'll be lucky to get 15.
Has he though?

He has been a regular premier League starter in a position that isn't his

If Conte was to go tomorrow and we brought in a manager that played a back four you would struggle to get a better defensive right back than Emerson for anywhere near 25 million.

His issue is our formation not his talent.

Probably Hakimi...

Joking aside, if first choice RWB is unattainable then Porro is a good compromise. I hope we get it done quickly.

Yes. He gets criticised after almost every performance. He doesn't start when Doherty is fit which says plenty.

I think his defensive qualities are massively overstated and is frequently out of position, often makes errors and his use of the ball is awful. He doesn't have the pace to mask these. Trippier cost the same amount he did. Anyone that would sign him certainly wouldn't pay close to 25 million.

Have to agree to disagree.

I think he would be a very solid right back.

Sporting have been clear he only leaves if his clause is met. So why aren’t we wrapping this up right now?! Conte is ok with him, RWB is an issue - so we should be doing this asap before we lose the target to someone who won’t fanny about paying the fee (looking at you Chelsea… ?)

We need to offload at least one RWB before we bring one in. Frustrating but understandable. We need to get Royal out.

Loan move for Spence might be easy enough, but getting rid of Royal won't be, likely high wage and clubs of likely destination outside the prem do not have the money. Would suspect Doherty might be easier to move?

We’re not moving our current first choice right back, Conte would be fuming

So then the Q becomes will Levy change a habit of a lifetime and take a bit of a hit on Doherty or Emerson so we can move them on quickly and get in a player of real quality.

I won’t hold my breath.
