January fixtures:

Palace (A)
Portsmouth (H)
Arsenal (H)
Man City (A)
Fulham (A)

If we wait until the end of the window to see if we can shave a few quid off the transfer fee - our new signing (Porro or anyone else) misses all of these fixtures at a minimum plus all of the settling in period they'll inevitably have. Remember, last season's title race was decided by a single goal in the 81st minute on the final day - there are fine margins in this league...

If Porro truly is the number one target, we should have had the deal wrapped up in principle during the World Cup, triggered the deal on Jan 1st and paraded him around the stadium at half-time during the Villa game before coming off the bench against Palace, starting against Pompey in the cup and then hopefully being ready for the NLD. As it is - we're likely to go into all of these fixtures plus probably some of February too with Royal and Doherty. Great...

The only thing that can turn this mood around at the club is signings. Everyone knows it, including Levy. I think we see a few deals happen.

The amount the scum is submitting to sign not sure who is this guy Mudryk is getting over €65m after their first bid is rejected, and we actually cooled off the fucking interest over £40m. The reason why they are top and we are 13 points apart.

I haven't seen this ITK, when was it?

How "back in" ?

Talking to clubs? Players he wants? Negotiating initial deals?

I'm sure if it was a problem FP and AC would have walked if true

I've heard nothing the past couple of days re Porro, but people need to chill out a bit. We are all very frustrated at the moment with the situation but look who has reported it, he hardly screams reliability.

I havent seen much of Porro and one good game against us doesnt really allow me to have a judgement of him but from what ive been reading about him - how can dropping 40m on him not be considered as backing the manager? Because we cant get a Hakimi? The guy needs to be flexible too. There are thousands of players out there and a lot of RWBs to boot.
Trix just said in the conte thread he’s not contes first choice but he’s someone he’s happy with as he rates him. Conte apparently from all we’ve heard isn’t someone who demands x player he just needs players who suits characteristics and as long as that player is suitably experienced enough at the right level

This is an excellent point, FP, Conte and Levy have had all the world cup to pick targets, i'll be absolutely pissed if we leave it to 20th -deadline day to get any of these targets in. Those 4 Prem games are horrible and with our current injuries, things could get bad quick in terms of the table. Would really love a couple of signings by the 10th.

Think the frustration over Porro will only grow with the news that Chelsea are buying Enzo Fernandez for £116m a premiership record.
Acknowledge that it's Lyall who is saying we are baulking at the 40m fee so needs pinch of salt but our supposed rivals spending a sum like that on one player which will imo be close to double what we spend in the window will just add to the unrest and frustration.

Think we had a snippet from ITK stating that we'd have to be a bit fluid once more regarding signings.

Before we jump the gun re: Lyall, it might be that we've lined up a cheaper RWB option because a player has become availalable that'll cost a bit more elsewhere to improve the team.

That's not to say RWB doesn't look a key position in the way Conte sets up.

I remember him saying that we had zero interest in Son, only for him to sign the next day.

I'm sure they used that time to pick targets but if those targets were in that world cup they may not have been able to progress. Porro wasn't at the world cup but maybe our first choice was.

Lets be honest though, on our right back scouting history our first choice target will be worse than Porro who'll probably go on to be the greatest rb of all time :cautious:

this is truly written in the stars. The funny thing is, lets just say we do sign him. He will turn into a pumpkin but if we don't he will turn into the next Cancelo hahahha.

Oh absolutely, i swear since Walker every single right back that has followed has been worse than his predecessor - absolute bonkers.

I dont know anything about Porro, but we have a 22 year old right back who impressed us enough to last season to buy in the face of some competition for his signature. I can't get too enthusiastic about another right back coming in when Spence hasn't been given a chance to prove his worth. Why can't Conte coach the guy and give him a couple of games? It's not like the two that have played have been nailing it.

Signing this guy would allow the time for Spence to develop in time so that we have two good young RWB’s to rotate. Porro would be good straight away and take the pressure off Spence needing to come good ASAP. I’ve seen people writing him off already because Conte hasn’t used him a lot but he’s raw, it was always going to take time with him but his potential is very high and he’s worth persevering with.

Bissouma should have been good straight away but instead he spent month's learning the Conte 'system' and is now a pale shadow of the player he was at Brighton.

Yeah, while I’m still of the opinion that we shouldn’t be hounding Conte out, his system really isn’t getting the best out of Bissouma

Sorry, that’s incorrect. We’re 13 points apart because their team is already playing better than we are. Signing this guy (regardless of the price) only makes the likelihood of them widening the gap bigger.
