If Levy is getting involved, and I know I’ve been massively critical of him, there’s no way this falls through. He knows exactly what will happen and what the fallout will be. He cannot afford, both literally and figuratively, for this deal to fall through.

Such a shame if we can’t get Porro as we do need someone a bit more dynamic for right wing back (and arguably left wing back still as well although at least have Udogwie coming in summer).

Very frustrating if Sporting have indeed pulled rug out from under deal as itmoften seems we have no back up options and now far too late into transfer window to do anything.

I agree with O'Keefe. What are CAA Base doing? Representing both Spurs and Porro and still manages to mess it up. They are too close to the club.

It's not quite that simple. As intermediaries there is only so much the can do, they don't have the authority to walk away from the deal or at least threaten to. Being able to just call a massive deal off in the blink of an eye is a position of strength if the other side want the deal. Intermediaries in general don't get this far and I would guess this is why the whole thing has taken weeks of meetings, having to keep going back to the clients to find out if xyz is acceptable.

Why would they loan their first choice RB to Fenerbache?

If this was on the cards, surely they would have prioritised in the summer and blooded in a new RB for pre-season.

One thing City aren't is disorganised. They're very good at succession planning

Man City would be crazy to sell him and Walker would be crazy to go there if he was going to leave. He could still play for pretty much any club in Europe.

On a serious note I’d now be extremely shocked if this doesn’t get done given the latest updates.
For all his faults Levy isn’t a stupid man.
I fully expect this to get done now.

Excuse my ignorance here, but why didn’t we negotiate this deal ourselves? Why have Base do it if they don’t have certain authority over things? It’s not as if our club guys are spread thing working on other deals. I must be missing something obvious, as this makes absolutely no sense to me.
