Shocking how much Chelsea are spending, yet Enic is worth more, and we pull in the most sales from revenue as well. How is it Chelsea can spend so much and us so little?

im just trying to understand.
Just read that Chelsea's spend this January is more than Brentfords since WW2

Well if reports are to be believed, then so far we’ve only spent a quarter of that on loan fees and doesn’t seem we’ll be spending much more.
Cabinessence over on FTL posted in November that Levy knew he had to make some signings to appease Conte, but there were no funds for big money signings as the money raised was gone because we still needed to pay for the likes of Romero & Kulu as well as Richy etc. He predicted that any biggish signings would only be loans with obs to buy. His source is impeccable, but he doesn't get too much info on specific players these days as Levy has gone all tight-lipped on signings over the last few years. Back in the day though he called Defoe & Carrick before they happened as well as Berby and Modric coming and going and Ledley being finished several years before he eventually retired, plus many more.

That first bit is the real truth to it. I think Chelsea's spend in the summer was the second highest by any club ever, and their January spend is already the highest there has been in January for the PL at least (probably the world). We really can't use their current levels of spending as a baseline to measure from - it is genuinely unprecedented.

Saying that, I am still confused myself about where our money is going at the moment. We must have a pretty tasty revenue but it doesn't feel like it's making its way into the dressing room. If we don't bring anyone else in today that feeling will grow, but there's still time so I'm not going to judge just yet.

Plenty to do in the Summer either way.

Surely with the loan to buy deals we have been doing a lot lately the cash is put in a later date, hence why we maybe don't have the budget to chuck a load around. I don't know the details but didn't we have to pay for Kulu, Romero and also money put aside for Danjuma if we take up the option? Some of the budget has just been kicked down the road but you have to pay it as some point.

Yeah I just don’t get why we’re doing another loan if we don’t sign anyone else today.

In the summer we’ll have to pay for Kulu, DJ (if he impresses), & now PP. That’s already a fair chunk of the summer budget gone ?

Just have to pray we sell everyone who’s out on loan …

It's probably more to do with ensuring Sporting get as much of the transfer fee as possible. They owe 30% to Man City so doing a loan with an obligation means Sporting keep the loan fee which probably covers some hidden fees etc...

I think part of the problem is we essentially haven't made any money at all from player sales in about 6 years.

Our revenue has gone through the roof thanks to the stadium, but ever since we sold Walker we've been absolute dog shit at selling players, not helped by a 5 year period where we mostly bought average/shit players too.

Over the years even Chelsea and City have helped to supplement their dirty money with some big sales every now and then. We haven't at all.

Bingo.

Add to this that we are run sustainably - we only spend money that we generate through the gate receipts, commercial deals, player sales etc..

So if you factor in the losing revenue through the pandemic, combined with lack of champions league for 2 seasons, and making bad players purchases (that we haven't been able to sell on). It's not a massive surprise that funds are tight.

Agree being told this morning could be two more in today! Levy and Fabio been in deadline day mode from early this morning. A lot of clubs coming to them for deals as well as agents.
I was told two is the max in. But if we are realistic it will be just the 1 in.
Not including the youngster we already feel we have wrapped up btw, the Chelsea lad already signed so a different one.
Levy is showing why he is stil the best person for the job IMHO no matter what comes out before the end of the season with investment from USA or QSI.

You are Daniel Levy, and I claim my five pounds.

We seem to be buying now pay later quite a bit. I suppose soon we will be leasing players for 3 years from a giant pool of players.

Hi Daniel.
Tried to make an AI generated image of Levy to reply to that post and got this absolute monstrosity.

The horror, the horror.

And in last 2 windows we have £150m commitment on players
