You might be happy playing you're British core.
The motto should be, If there good enough they play, I don't care where the come from.
If they come through the ranks then great.
But I'm not getting all sentimental because they came through the ranks.
If you think they would turn down a move if someone offered to double there wages, then your living on a different planet.
You play you're best team, if some of them are youngsters then great, if not then there not good enough.
not sure if deliberately trolling with grammar or not...

Get him in the team.

I might get pelters for saying this but i want the team to have an English core tomorrow. I want Rose, i want Naughton, Townsend, Mason, Kane, i want players who above all are going to fight for the shirt tomorrow and know what this match means to the club fans etc. I know Naughton and Rose didnt come through the youth setup like the other 3 guys but they are the players in form in full back positions and deserve to play. Them being English and understanding the derby is another positive.

If we play all the out of form Carlos Kickaballs we are going to get turned over and comfortably too. However if we get turned over while playing our hearts out and battle with them until the end then i will be content. Because when i saw Mason, Townsend and Kanes celebrations against Notts Forest on Wednesday i saw how much wearing the Spurs shirt means to them all and lets face it, could it be any worse than seeing Adebayor and Capoue sauntering around like its a stroll in the park tomorrow while losing 5-2 again?

I want players in the team giving their all and not be out fought like we were against west brom. This is not a game for chadli or eriksen IMO.
There is no disgrace losing to a better side but being out fought and not wanting it as much as the opposition is unexeceptable especially in a local derby

It's not dude, funnily enough he's probably the most composed player we've got at the moment and has been since pre-season. He just gets on with it. Fearless.

I'm sure Mason has good composure, but I'm always wary of sticking a player straight into the starting lineup when he ahs started a game at all yet.

A derby game will be five, ten times more sapping physically and mentally than a fifteen minute cameo against already tired opponents, never mind the expectation a starting spot will bring. I'd prefer a more gradual introduction, maybe he'll come on with half hour to go tomorrow and we'll see. Stick him into the starting line up and its sink or swim, and given how poor the rest of the team has been recently.

My personal view is its better to go the medium/long term route with young players. They'll get more slack because they are young/academy graduates, but if Mason starts tomorrow some people will expect him to solve all our problems based on a good 15 minutes against a much changed Forest side.

Everybody looking for the quick fix ( as usual)
Suddenly promoting players who were not in the team makes them world beaters
Mason should get more games; sure He should start more games sure but only when it is right for him

Mason should definitely not start tomorrow but I would have him on the bench ahead of Paulinho based on performance.

Also left the left wing inadequately addressed (Chadli wasn't enough while we stockpiled on the right), and those center mids were too similar.

But I don't think it's sufficient evidence to pin it all on Baldini and suggest the whole plan has failed. Baldini can bring in the players, but he can't get them to be bothered on a pitch.

Part of picking the right players is judging their attitude and personality.

Comolli could often spot a skilful player but if they were a muppet like Boateng or Taarabt then it's a poor signing.

Exactly, It would be one thing if we had a solid spine to the team, a reliable back 4 and a general good run of form on the go but as it stands I cant see how this would be the sensible thing to do.

My footballingly romantic side would love to see Mason inspire the team to a rousing performance tomorrow but i feel that expectation of him would be unrealistic.

That being said, my expectations of certain other CM's we have are looking more and more unrealistic as their minutes on the pitch increase so im not really sure where that leave us.

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino was impressed by the character displayed in overcoming Nottingham Forest, singling out "great talent" Ryan Mason for particular praise after the Capital One Cup third-round win.

"Ryan in the beginning of the pre-season was good," he said.

"The last season was difficult for him because he had some injuries, but he is a great talent from the academy. We need to be careful with him.

"He played on Monday for the Under-21s at Sunderland and today he had the possibility to be in the squad.

"He showed his talent and I am happy for him because he deserved this performance and this goal today."

I hope he does get a start

He's been very patient
For me away at arsenal is not the right time. We are basing him starting after a great 30 minute appearance against a championship team. I have high hopes for him based on that performance but a start imo is not the right decision.

*Awaits for Mason to start, score a hat trick, get selected for England, become captain and become the world's greatest player :)

can't see him starting tomorrow. we need to see a bit more of him, before throwing the poor guy into the deep-end. don't want to trample on his confidence, right when it's beginning to blossom.
I sorta wonder too if he might be better suited in the 'ten' role, or as the more advanced CM, with Lamela and Ericksen on either side, with Soldado through the middle.
I guess in doing so there would be a little less pressure on him. whereas in a CM2, the buck truly does stop with him.

I don't expect him to start, but having him on the bench might just be the rocket up the arse some of the "senior" players need.
