So you seriously dont think he has something lined up, and that he and his agents havent laid a plan of how to ensure the money from a willing buyer ends up in their pockets rather than to Spurs?
Welcome to the world of modern football and greedy agents. You miss what happened with Moriba and Leipzig? His agents got a fat commission for going there instead of here. Money rules the world. It won't change.

No transfer fee and we likely have to pay over £1m to cancel his contract.

The agent has intentionally stalled and rejected clubs Tottenham found him so the agent gets a better commission since whatever club Serge goes to doesn’t pay a transfer fee. Its so obvious. Its not about his contract
He has a contract with us. He doesn't have to sign for another team that probably won't pay him as much because we have decided we don't want him anymore. The agent works for the client and it sounds like he's getting a good outcome for Serge, I don't blame him.

People getting their knickers in a twist. We want him off the books, he wants to go elsewhere with the best deal he can get.

Is this ideal - obviously not, but keep your eyes on the prize, this is another player off the wage bill that we wanted gone - the signing of Emerson makes this plain surely?

Sadly this is the problem you face when letting players get close to the final year of their contracts. His agent has played a blinder to be fair (as much as it fucking stinks). Was it Eriksen who signed an extension at Ajax just before signing for us to ensure they were compensated?
I like Serge as a bloke and actually think he’s a very decent player who just gets over excited at times. He played through some really horrific personal experiences and I’ll always respect that, but this leaves a sour taste for sure.

Yeah I hold no grudges with him. I think we’ve learnt through Moriba that agents have more power and are in player’s ears a lot more than we’d like to believe.

What is he honouring exactly? Wants spurs to cancel his contract (with some payoff?) , Move to another club get a signing on fee and wages..
Do you understand how contracts work? We can't just sack him, he's entitled to train with us for another year and get paid or he can come to an agreement to end his contract early.

You seem to misunderstand the situation. It's Serge that wants to cancel the contract.

People want him gone for his market value. He’s been posturing for a move for some time.

The club are hardly feeding him to the lions. I’m guessing most, much like me, want him gone for his true value. Not for peanuts so his agents can all cream off the top.

Sounds to me he’s digging his heels in.

He has less than twelve months on his contact and clearly isn't first choice anymore. The club just bought another RB a few hours ago, they were never going to get any 'value' for him.
