Did Jamie then say he thought he would be perfect for Man United?! :)
Jamie Rednapp is a dickhead pure and simple and I would not even hire him as a doorman when the new stadium opens. Stuff him make him wait outside with the away fans no media accreditation!

The clause is in his contract but it only comes into play once his current contract expires/is expiring so it's a total non-event.

How does that work? Surely all terms of his contract become defunct as soon as it ends, with him either signing a new contract (terms TBC) or leaving for nothing.

From what i can see in previous posts, if we triger the extention of one year then it comes into effect. So technically his contract is up but would then be classes as expiring within the next year.

Dean Austin, Vega, Nethercott and Tramezanni would walk into this team. Even Frode Grodas would get ahead of Lloris

"Quite remarkably, in each of Alderweireld's seven full seasons as a professional, he has always played in a team that has had either the best defensive record (five times) or the second best defensive record (twice) in the league. On the two occasions that he played in the league's second best defence (Ajax in 2011/12 and Southampton in 2014/15), the number of goals that they conceded was only one more than the best defence."

This is an amazing stat, Toby is a brilliant defender and one that seems to have a calming effect on those around him. Its no coincidence that Verts has become a better player since having Toby beside him. We missed him a lot when he was out and is, with Kane, Lloris & Alli, one of our most important players.

I just checked, and we actually have the best defence in all professional leagues in England.

What an amazing stat this is on Toby Alderweireld...

In the 7 seasons as a professional footballer he's been in the team with the best defensive record 5 times. The other 2 seasons, in the team with the 2nd best defensive record (by 1 goal).

We've got one of the very best central defenders in world football. What a player.

I loved this article as it quite clearly states that most stats are about the individual are fucking useless.

Sky rating keepers on number of saves made and defenders on tackles only serves to show their team is shit.

Toby is just like Ledley in that he's not only a calm class act himself, but just being there he makes others better.
Ledley made Dawson look champions league rather than championship material. Toby does the same and it's a testimony to the scouting that they looked beyond stats that had a lot of people in the early days of his spurs career questioning why we bought him.

Hope we get signed up on a new deal soon, aside from King / Woodgate easily one of our best centre backs in recent years and so so important for our solid defensiveness either in a flat back four or three.

Only player I'm worried about us losing at moment really as the others have all been secured to new deals and shown the love!

I'm not one to force the world class definition down people's throats but in my eyes and in my own admission he is a world class player for me as a defender he has everything you need to be in that bracket.
