Don't be surprised if he picks up once Romero and VdV are back in the side.

If you are a player looking to turn and play forward in tight areas it makes a hell of a difference how the pass is played to you. If it's fired straight at you it's far harder to adjust and turn than it is if it's played the way you should be moving in order to turn. Good clever players will give you that tiny bit more quality in the pass to make your job easier.

Also knowing you have a solid technically good outlet both in front and behind you, gives you more options and less to think about.

I'm not worried at all tbh and I'm sure he will improve once the quality around him picks back up.
This fingers crossed

9/10 for the match. 1/10 for how he gave the ball away for the third goal.

2/10 because he’s supposed to be a leader.

He's not the same player we were seeing earlier in the season, certainly seems less sure of himself on the ball.
We were playing Man.City away with more or less our B team and he’s been in/out the team recently due to suspension etc.

He obviously looked more comfortable when he had Romero & VDV behind him and Maddison & Sarr beside him.

Playing as a 6 with a right back and left back in central defence against the Premier League and CL Winners.. Think he should be given a bit more love.

The way he lost the ball for their third was bad, but for me it was still nice to see that he tried something and worked much harder in the second half.

I think he has looked quite disinterested in several games, which has been a much bigger worry for me than him being worse on the ball than earlier in the season.

So despite that mistake today, the second half made me much less worried about him.

He certainly looks a lot more hesitant when in possession. Not really surprising. Last season we saw a similar situation with our entire midfield & attack. Knowing how fragile the back line is doesn’t inspire confidence in anyone let alone the DM whose job it is to float between the midfield and defence and cover when out of possession.

Unless there is an underlying injury issue we are not aware of the drop in form looks entirely mental. As you say, once even Romero is back I expect to see an upturn in performance.

Totally agree.

Only issue is once VDV & Romero are back Biss will be off to AFCON and with Bentancur out it’ll be PEH in the 6 role, Biss isn’t a worry at all he’s an incredible player, we just need to sign another CM start of Jan as we will be so light otherwise.

Indeed and I expect Ange to stick with him because he's by far the best we have in playing that position his way.

I havent even seen Hojbjerg play as bad as Bissouma did today. That was a performance that showed why Conte refused to play him. Brutal, brutal performance. And we cant really afford those. Need much better from him against West Ham.

Sometimes people are able to accept things in theory but not in practise.

We've all got on board with Ange style of football and most were saying that we believe in playing out from the back and taking risks in possession and that during the course of a season we'll inevitably be punished once or twice.

Well, here we are. 14 games in and this is the first goal we've conceded from losing controlled possession in our own third.

Earlier this season, Bissouma could play passes to the likes of Romero, VDV and Maddison and trust that they can deal with the immediate pressure, but with today's lineup he has to do more himself and the world's best defensive midfielder slid in and took the ball.

The benefits with playing this way greatly outweighs the risk. In fact, you only have to look at our first goal today where Gil easily could have cleared the ball but instead decides to control the ball and spin an opponent just outside our box which allowed the counter-attack to develop.

Bissouma probably has lost a bit of confidence and rhythm. His performance today wasn’t great. But he’s a brilliant player and he will come good again.

Oh I agree, but I think we have much bigger issues as it stands.
The bigger issues are the injury list and lack of squad depth. Other than that the big issue is that we continue to concede goals (I’m talking for years) that are avoidable and are down to our own mistakes. If we cut out those silly mistakes we will become a very tough team to beat. Yesterday was another example, get ourselves back into the match and then nearly throw it away with a silly goal to concede.
anyway, we deserved something out of yesterdays game and whatever happens, I’ll back Ange as I’ve seen enough to believe that once it clicks we will be one of the best teams in the country

Massive overreaction in here to be honest. We've seen his undeniable quality in the first 8 games of the season, and he hasn't just turned to shit overnight. I think the fact that, through his own doing, he's been in and out of the team through suspension has weighed on him a bit. When he has a solid defensive pair behind him again I think he'll find his form, just in time for us to lose him to the AFCON.

They clearly targeted him and got at him whenever he received the ball. They shut him down pretty effectively and forced mistakes, and that isn't Bissouma's fault or reason to criticize. As for the 'mistake', yes, it did cost us, but he was a gnat's away from nutmegging Rodri and getting clear of 4 of their players. The break was on with just a tad more luck. Just like Ange, he was brave and stuck to his principals and whilst he's getting flak just about everywhere, I doubt Ange is giving him any.

He was so close to nutmegging Rodri, but didn't quite come off. It was a very costly mistake but playing the way Ange wants is risky attacking football. If he did get the ball past and broke the press in that way, we'd be all raving about his performance

Yet Dier shows good mentality but makes fatal mistakes = costs us points. What Bissouma did for the 3rd goal was very poor and he should know better

Diers mistakes are not him being brave - he just gets beat, its hardly the same.

Bissoumas mistake was stupid but thats the role hes playing we are relying on him to make split second decisions under pressure from a swarm of city players and he made the wrong one, it will happen playing the game we do, but hopefully they become rarer and rarer as the team grows.
