I'd say he got a par for the course, did anyone of you think at the beginning of the season we'd do much better than 6th - I didn't.

We now know he has a direct input into the players that are brought in, so for me, I'm hoping he gets some of those players and then I will be able to judge him better this time next year.

The man's a magician. Working wonders at getting Lloris to pull balls out of the net.

Seriously though he truly deserves more time because he hasn't got his "own players" in yet, is in a new country, is learning the language, and has only had one season to produce the most losses in a Spurs side since 2008.

I'd say give him a contract extension, after all Levy did say that he wanted to take the Club in a different direction and he's certainly achieved that.
But... but... we had EL this season to mess up for us! Dear oh dear, if only we could play fewer matches in a season, we wouldn't loose so often. And have you seen the supremely young average age of the squad when we don't play Friedel?

One of the reason for why people wanted him is that he was supposed to be so good at over achieving.

I do find it disturbing and amusing how many players he has exiled so far considering the abuse AVB got for just not involving Ade and ekotto in matches.

Ekotto
Kaboul
Capoue
Stambouli (makes the bench sometimes but doesn't dare play him)
Dembele
Lennon
Adebayor

Good thing the seasons over as he'd soon run out of players when someone rubs him the wrong way
He obviously doesn't like the French speakers.. and Lennon!

For me, the drop in total points earned is what's more alarming. This is a results oriented business. Earning 58 or 59 points, which is very realistic at this stage, would represent the worst league performance in years. A whole 10 points, potentially, worse than last season, which most everyone here complained was a disappointment. If I told people here last June that Pochettino would earn 59 points (assuming a Hull draw and Everton loss) this season with very few quality performances and a massive late season collapse with team performance tailing off, how would people have reacted?

With our relative austerity in transfer spending, Pochettino has no margin of error as a tactician or man manager.

My assessment of this season is:

Pretty poor. D- must do better.
IMO if this was his second season he'd be out of a job in the summer.

The only positive Poch has over AVB and Sherwood is that we've not been shagged so hard by the top 4. Other than that there are few if any other positives..

I've seen enough to suggest that given his say in transfers and with a full preseason, we'll be much stronger next year. Think MP is the type of coach that needs a decent amount of time on the training pitch. Something he hasn't had at all with EL. And by the time we were out of that they'd played a seasons quota of games and were shagged basically.

As I said in another thread:

Sorry, but starting to loose faith in MP, we have a nearly a full season with him and apart from a few games, we have looked
very ordinary in most. We have the 5th best goals scored in the league, but the joint 4th worst for goals conceded, and if it wasn't for Hugo, we would have the worst. Every good team or teams that would like to progress to a higher level always make sure the defence is solid first, we are a joke in that department and I don't think he actually works on it, I think his attitude is the same a Ossie, you score two, will we score three. For me, that doesn't work and unless he starts to work on not conceding goals, I think he will take us no futher that what we have done this year..

Had to lmao at his BBC post match interview. He needs his interpreter back asap so he can act like ge doesn't understand the questions because he just doesn't understand whats unfolding on the pitch.

He at least needs to be given a chance to bring in the right players.

It's clear that the high press is important for the system, hopefully with Mitchell on board we'll have a decent window and a few more academy lads will be able to step in. I'm optimistic and I think we'll see an improvement.

If we're still seeing no signs of improvement by the second half of next season then it's probably time to be concerned, but still there has to be appropriate alternatives available.

Unfortunately it's going to rest on Danny Boy's ability to take a hit on the deadwood. I can't see this happening which is going to make it difficult for Pochettino.

The high press isn't working and our defence the third worse in the PL.

Are you suggesting the back four and two midfielders are replaced?

Yesterdays debacle had nothing to do with the high press and everything to do (like most of the season) with piss poor defending overseen by an ex- Argie International defender. Let that fact sink in before talking high press as the issue for our worst season since 2008.

An unqualified manager made a better hash of it than this clown last season.

It concerns me that:

- he plays Dier at right back over Yedlin.

- he keeps thrashing Mason and should give the lad a rest.

- he keeps playing Eriksen who has been shit for a while.

- he players Townsend on the right (just give him a go on left gad nabbit!).

He pretends to misunderstand just like he pretends to organise a defence.
No, really, I'v never believed that he deliberately acts like he misunderstand. He could never pull that off for an entire season.
