I just read the article and there is no defending by Poch on what Chiriches did. For me Chirches has been dodgy for the last half a season. No idea what is going on with him but he has to be dropped completely and used as an emergency back up as he just seems very error prone now.

Forget Chiriches Poch and look at the bigger picture for fuck sake.

Yeah, he's shit and he fucked up.
But our "style" of play is atrocious. We're boring to watch. We rarely ever look like scoring goals. We've won 1 of our last 7 and that was against a championship team.
Besiktas deserved at least a draw last night.

All this "I'm angry about that" and "I've given them a talking to" means fuck all if every week we turn up and look like we can't be bothered.

People are all cheering a draw at arsenal like it's a cup win last week. They were all over us and we were lucky they were as bad up front as we were.

Deja vu at work here. After every game Poch is supposedly 'angry and frustrated'. Let's hope he uses that the make improvements.

I hope the defence of Vlad is just a case of not berating players in public though I think the not praising players, like Lloris is less understandable, since praise when it is due usually builds confidence

I can't disagree with much of that. Clearly Chiriches was awful but some other players are not much netter and that aside it just seems like noone is orchestrating anything in attack and it is certainly very uninspiring to watch. I think that people were relieved more than anything else not to lose at the Emirates. It was as much, if not more about not being embarrassed as how well we played.

All I can repeat is that there was a general acceptance before the start of the season that Pochettino would need time. I suspect that many probably said that whilst secretly hoping somehow that he would have a magic wand to wave and everything would be rosy with all of the players stepping up and putting on a magical show of breathtaking technical football with goals galore (well perhaps not but at least that the team would offer something to excite them). Clearly it's going to take time. Now I appreciate that people are paying good money to go and watch the team every week but if we are going to escape the sack/appoint/sack managerial cycle then it's going to have to be a case of 'trust in Poch.' How long for.....well how long is a piece of string?

24k last night.

Is this Daniel Levy's latest plan to not build a new stadium, hire dour managers to bore the fans into lower attendances?

People have criticised our lack of atmosphere and those that boo the team.
But I can see a worse scenario soon and that's lower attendances.

Obvious statement alert:

We need someone who can keep hold of the ball in the middle and dictate play

I actually thought the game was pretty entertaining - not pretty, but exiting - and the team (which was really Spurs' second squad) showed some spirit as well.
I agree the "I am angry" claims are starting to sound a bit lame and Pochetto probably learned last night that Chiriches is not going to be his part of a second centre-back pairing. When Walker comes back Dier will probably fit O.K. alongside Fazio, who I thought had a decent game last night.

I don't think that is a fair assessment.

Pochettino has shown himself to be capable of creating an attacking team capable of high energy and creative play. Just because we haven't clicked yet doesn't mean he is a "dour" manager. Given we are only in the first week of October of his first season I think that is fairly premature.

The real problem last night is, and has been every time i see him play, Townsend. I am not surprised in the slightest that Soldado and Adebayor are having a mare of a season, the number of times Townsend came in to try and take a shot when there were far better options was criminal. If I were Soldado I would feel dejected and pissed off too. Get the f*cking ball in to the striker in the box and let him do his job!

Lennon on the other hand is completely blunt on the left. His crossing does not have enough pace on them for him to cut inside and stand them up because its almost like a chip into the box that is easily headed away or claimed by the keeper.

Chadli and Lamela understand the role far better but if you're going to play Lennon and Townsend, Lennon needs to be on the right and Townsend needs to be on the left.

There's only one person to be angry with and that's himself. We have all these expensive coaches, consultants etc watching these games like all of so unless they're all blind, did one of them not get the sense from very early on last night that Vlad was struggling? He gave the ball away within a minute and continued all night. I stopped counting at one point as I was too angry watching it. We have a very promising cb playing right back, and Naugton sitting on the bench, so the change should have been made by halftime at the latest. Stupid, unforgivable, angry.....just get the easy stuff right please before telling me you're angry Mr Pochettino - end of rant!

Sherwood said on ITV that Pooch likes the counter attacking style <at home> and the fans are just going to have to get used to it.

But I'm not sure this is the problem - counter attacking is fast and incisive. That is hardly us.

For me the problem is that we are set up to defend against the counter attack - hog possession without doing anything with the ball, never committing players forward, 2 to 3 defensive midfielders, and one isolated striker.
We are on the back foot and invite pressure.

Having said that, it was an entertaining game with lots of attacking football. I think we fans just need to get used to the reality that it is not us that are going to be doing the attacking and entertaining.

I agree. The shame is that Pochettino has to take the pressure but this has been coming since a while before he turned up.

....in the short term. Mid to long term obviously he will have to deliver that and/or the results.

I totally agree. Soldado clearly must have been brought in with the idea that he was fed the balls and his main job was to stick it in the back of the net, not running around trying to set his own chances up. I was/am trying to remain optimistic about him but I am fast becoming doubtful that he is going to merit the amount of money that was spent on him.

So MoPo thought Vlad's performance would improve if he let him play on? Error of judgment imo. If a player is consistently making mistakes and having a bad game, he absolutely MUST be subbed.

Wow, there's a blast from the past.
its a fair comparison though, IMO. I thought we'd moved up in the world but that performance was like a flash-back to a pretty bleak period from the past. Mitchell Thomas, Chris Fairclough, Stuart Nethercott...it was that kind of level though even more frustrating as Vlad clearly has ability, the others were just shit players..
