Pochettino 'angry and frustrated' after Spurs draw with Besiktas

Forget Chiriches Poch and look at the bigger picture for fuck sake.

Yeah, he's shit and he fucked up.
But our "style" of play is atrocious. We're boring to watch. We rarely ever look like scoring goals. We've won 1 of our last 7 and that was against a championship team.
Besiktas deserved at least a draw last night.

All this "I'm angry about that" and "I've given them a talking to" means fuck all if every week we turn up and look like we can't be bothered.

People are all cheering a draw at arsenal like it's a cup win last week. They were all over us and we were lucky they were as bad up front as we were.

Alternatively they were lucky that we were as poor up front as they were.

The goon game isn't really an appropriate game to measure against. A NLD at their place is always one to expect we'll be under the cosh. We employed the same tactic they did in the previous season's corresponding fixture and, barring some ordinary forward play, we'd have had a similar result, but reversed.

The bigger worry was our home performance against WBA. Even I was angered by that and I'm normally pretty philosophical about things like that. The lack of drive, invention and concentration was, frankly, infuriating.

It has been stated on here many times before, but our slow starting to each home game is a huge worry. It allows the opposition to grow in confidence whilst the crowd reaction swiftly erodes our own.
Starting a game with the intention of 'ripping their throats out' early sets the tone for the support who will always react favourably.

My honest opinion is that Poch needs to have them focus on this as a priority, particularly in home games. It may not stop the moaning, if we don't score, but it will certainly raise the noise levels, which will only add to the confidence of the players.

there is a good player in Chiriches somewhere - Poch has obviously seen it but what is going on with him?
As someone has pointed out, we look vulnerable and teams are not afraid of us. We need some urgent fluency and energy. There needs to be a lot of work done in training. I've a feeling that our first eleven would have got an uplift from the Ars game and they may actually be more suited against Southampton - they certainly won't think it's easy. I hope Dembelle is fit for the game. I'd be inclined to play Soldaldo for this one - it might be why he was substituted early.

But that's just based on chances. They also played better football that we did, passing better and more positively, retaining possession and getting the ball back quicker.

Yep, can't argue with that. You would expect them to do that at home though wouldn't you? Especially, as I posted earlier, due to us employing the same tactics as they did, at home, the previous season by sitting back and countering on the break.
They did do it better than us last season, but you'd expect that as they've been together longer with a manager in place for nigh on 20 years.

Like I said, the WBA game is one to be far more narked about.

Yeah. Totally. And Poch was there all summer and did fuck all about it.
I'd have been telling 2/3's of them to find another club but he seems to have decided to keep them and use them.
Every time I see Townsend on the pitch I see the figure of £12,000,000 diminishing. I think it was down to about £4.72 last night.
You can't sell players if nobody will buy them,if they won't take a wage cut, if they refuse to leave or you can't get a replacement.
