IMO the best sign of Poh's reign thus far is his silence around footballing preferences/philosophy.
It seems like he didn't come in aiming to make a legacy of the AVB mould which is great; a sign of maturity and realism.

I think his season will depend on whether these 3 players perform: Lamela, Ade, Vert. Reasons:

1) Lamela is our version of Lllana (and possibly a better one). We've been starved of goals/assists from midfield so he is our best hope of plugging that gap.

2) Ade is our only proven goal scorer in the Prem and he knows the weight he carries; which is why he is such a prima donna. Managing his ego/fitness/hunger will be key.

3) Vert should be our leader in CB but what he shows in technical ability isn't matched by determination. To play CB in the Prem you need to be able to lead; he hasn't shown that aspect to his game.

This assumes that Eriksen/Lloris will have stellar seasons and i have little doubt about that barring injuries. Both are self-starters looking for a promising career.

From our list of youngsters i think Bentlab/Kane will have breakthrough seasons. Bentlab has skills that we need in CM (a combo of technical ability, dribbling and positioning). Kane could fill in where Ade/Soldado fail so he is very likely to get a chance.

If we have Mussachio, no way will Dawson start ahead of him.

Lamela Starting on the right? Not so sure that is true. He was definitely in the middle most of the matches.

No regularly no but for the first game yes, Mussachio won't be ready.

Lamela has started on the right in most games and interchanged with Eriksen mainly, that's the way Poch plays with an interchanging front 4.

Judging from pre-season, plus those who were left out due to the WC, I'd say the following are sure bets for a starting berth

....................Lloris................
Walker...xxxx......Verts.......xxx
..........Capoue......xxxx...........
....Lamela.....Eriksen....xxxx...
....................xxxx.................

I would think the remaining xxxx would go to Kaboul, Rose, Dembele, Townsend and Soldado

I think we will see the following on the opening weekend:

----------------Lloris------------------

Naughton-----Dawson--Verts----Davies

-----------Capoue-----Bentaleb--------

Lennon---------Eriksen----------Lamela - all rotating

-----------------Ade-------------------

I dont think any new signings we make between now and then will start the game, I think our 2 potential incomings (MM / MS) wont be until the end of the window as they seem fairly complex, add to that neither have featured in any pre season games.

I think Kaboul may be away by then and also something must be up with Walkers injury, he's only played 45 mins of football all summer, so think Poch might start Naughton at RB.

His starting point has been the right and he has interchanged from there as per Pochettino's system, Eriksen has started central.

That isn't true, I thought similar but have since been proven wrong. He (Lamela) starts central and drifts right when eriksen/Holtby move central as we change from 4231 into a 433.

This is what I expect to be honest with you, presuming Lloris is fit and back with the squad - has he had any pre-season games yet?

I dont think either Kaboul or Daws will start in CB for the new season. I think the club has rightly realized that both have passed their sell-by date...

I wouldn't be surprised if the WC players are given another week or 2 to recover.
It is different for goalies so I'd expect Lloris to start.

Holtby generally has not been starting in the same side as Lamela, Eriksen and Lennon have and Eriksen has started in the middle and drifted out. The front 4 is all about interchange which s why Lamela has been starting on the right and drifting to score in the inside left channel. He was on the right against Celtic again and even scored from there, you were right all along.

Think it will be this, but Soldado in for Ade...the latter could take a while to get up to speed.

Walker - Kaboul - Verts - Davies

Capoue - Sandro

If we have Mussachio, no way will Dawson start ahead of him.

At the moment, Dawson is our team captain, so it would be very hard to drop him for a new player from the outset.

Now, if Dawson was to have the captaincy removed (and that would be a massive blow to him on a personal level), who do you feel should be given the job?
