It is when you're a premiership footballer, go into training for a few hours, you have the rest of the day free.
It's like one long holiday, that's why some of the footballers get themselves in trouble, they don't know what do with their time off.
Especially if playing FIFA or taking gay Arsenal selfies isn't your cuppa.

Spurs XI fixture against Cambridge Utd announced for 5th August.
According to Cambridge website we have told them we will take a side up which consists of first-team regulars.
Bit expensive though - for me to go with wife and kids will be £44 (will be going in the home end as she and her dad are Cambridge regulars). The Schalke game is only £40 for family ticket!

Really hope people don't get too obsessed about the results in our pre season games.

These games are about fitness and the players getting used to the way Poch wants things done.

£13 for the train, £12 for the ticket... rip-off for pre-season but I'll probably go along just so I can well and truly make up for summer without Spurs by going to three games in the first week of August.

Worth noting that we have only 5 first-team friendlies, but Dagenham and Cambridge have both said they've been promised strong teams including first-teamers so these may well be stronger Spurs XI sides than we're used to.

Especially in the US tour where we'll play teams in the middle of their season, maybe not full first teams but teams with full fitness.

And we will have had barely a week of work with the ball

Just interested as pre-season develops to see the team shape and how the pattern of play is evolving.

And whether players like Ceballos, Falque will impress enough for Poch to have a look at them in his system.

Very interesting few weeks ahead and it's why I'm also glad we haven't rushed into any signings before Poch actually knows what this group is capable of. Nothing worse than signing a couple of players for the sake of signing someone then realising a couple of months down the line that actually we had someone that could do that job as well or better.

Thats why I'm surprised we've ono got 5 games to practice his ideas. Surely some players aren't that bright and are going to need a few more games than that!

Yup - in the youth thread.

Its thought to be an u21/Spurs X! side taking on Southend on Wednesday morning behind closed doors. Any one at the training ground who can give us any info, please put it in the Spurs youth thread

training Going good The squad depart for the #THFCTOUR tomorrow.

Hmm, wonder when we are told about the travelling party - although a guess might be :.

Goalkeepers : Friedel, Archer,

Fullbacks : Walker, Naughton, Fredericks, Rose, Fryers

Centre-Backs : Dawson, Kaboul, Chiriches, (plus Fryers/Veljkovic)

Centre Midfield : Carroll, Holtby, Sandro, Capoue, Veljkovic,

Attacking Midfielders : Eriksen, Mason, Pritchard, Lennon, Lamela, Townsend, Sigurdsson, Falque ?, Ceballos ?

Forwards : Soldado, Kane

I know vertonghen is missing but looking at that we really do need a new centre back.

Big unknown in the CB's is whether Kaboul will regain the fitness and form of 2 years ago (and equally Sandro as a DM). I've put Fryers and Veljkovic there as I think they can play there - but realistically this season will Fryers play many PL games there ? Veljkovic I think is likely to play more EL games.

I like Dawson more for his leadership role ratheer than as a CB these days, and Chirches was out a fair bit with injuries.

So I think we probably need a CB, but I'd like to understand Kaboul's situation a bit more. And if Vertonghen is also going to help cover LB again, we certainly need more defenders - unless Poch is going to rely on Fryers & Veljkovic playing 20+ games between them.
