Comolli is in charge of the backroom staff, obviously taking into account any requests from Ramos wrt first team matters, and is responsible for the scouts, coaches (for the reserves and academy especially), and medical staff.

He isnt obviously directly involved in training regimes, diets, or how many reps players do when lifting weights, but he is responsible for the people that are directly involved. If he got someone in who thought pork pies were the ideal food before a game and all the players suffered Comolli would be responsible for hiring such a person.

Alvarez and that spanish doctor with the baby food will have direct influence on dietary needs and fitness of the players, but Comolli (by getting in Ramos) is responsible for them performing, as he is responsible for Ramos performing as it was his suggestion to get him in.

I prefer to look at it the same way most companies run:

There's the bosses who are in charge of the entire gubbins then, below them, are several "senior managers" who are in charge of departments, such as Financial, Community, Legal and Human Resources. Although those managers might not actually be very astute in any of the areas that their department might be running, they are capable of being in charge of the setup, employing the right people below them to do the jobs required. These senior managers don't actually do the work, they identify what needs to be done and employ suitably skilled people.

Comolli is what i would consider the head of H.R. He deals with players in and out, he deals with their relationship with the club (through representatives, i would imagine) and he also has to make sure that the players, or "assets" are cared for - under this would come his interest in their diets and lifestyles as provided by the club.

It's Comollis job, therefore, to make sure that the right man is in place to provide both the players with the correct food to keep them at top level, earning top money for the club, and to provide him with the information required to continue improving the club/player relationship.

Why is that so hard to figure? Just because he's not the one pushing a trolley around Tesco's it doesn't mean he doesn't carry a certain amount of responsibility for the overall well being, health and happiness of ALL the playing staff.

If you're looking for ridiculous posts, may I suggest this?

'As far as I'm concerned, Comolli shouldn't be at the training grounds. He should be scouting for players. Glorified talent scout/coach appointer.'

The idiot that is right is better than the idiot that is wrong. Enjoy being wrong. :)
