Just leave it as it is and don't worry about policing it heavily. It's a bloody internet forum, anyone who complains about having to read through the thread when they get home from school is a fucking blancmange. Just search for comments by Trix etc or read the Read Only ITK.

A good idea but get rid of those bloody icons especially the dislike and spam ones :)
From my pov the less policing there is on the ITK thread the better. I don't want SC to follow COYS disciplinary style

Yup. The Spam ones about "hey, what are you doing" are just petty and a bit annoying

I propose a complete ban on discussing any linked players until they have completed one full season playing for Spurs.

A "Transfer Discussion Thread" to replace the ITK Discussion Thread.
This would be a more relaxed version of the current discussion thread. We still don't want it full of twitter crap but we won't heavily police it so it'll be more free-flowing but also very much discussing the latest news. The player threads will still exist for more general discussion of the players and we'll shepherd people into those as necessary. We'll encourage people to use the Spam rating to self-moderate it a bit.

Interresting

I've often wondered when this might be brought to a head as you simply cannot conrol poeple the way you (or A&C) want them to post, not unless we all become robots.

How many times has A&C given warnings and removed or banned members for not adhering to the strict rules which dont apply to other forums, or sub forums ? and it will continue (in my opinion) as its to easy to pick up on a post where some one mentions a player or his position or what ever. You simply cant control people's thoughts and more so when their brain is lubricated with the bubly stuff or what ever thier preference is.

I think what you are suggesting is a sensible comprimise and will save your admin/mods a lot more time allowing you guys to enjoy the place rather than see it as work or a chore. I've mentioned previously I am an admin of a Rugby League forum in Australia and we have 35,000 members so I know what you are going through and how much work it can be, I come here to relax and get away from what can be annoying use of my time.

The ticker may have issues on where you are sourcing the updates from. There are sources and there is clickbait. There are certain media outlets that we have filtered, or censored out, so those sources cannot be referenced as they are simply amateurs or spam merchants.

My two bobs worth.

I love this place and wish you luck.

COYS.

If we decide to go with the ITK Ticker we'll be needing around a half a dozen or so people to keep the ticker thread updated.

It falls to me to fill these positions

Basically, candidates need to be sensible and not ****s. So that's cut the possibilities down drastically. I think we're struggling :D

Anyway, if we do go down that road and you think you make the cut (you don't) and want to give it a go, i'll be asking nearer the time.

New system I think will be a much better system for all, encourages conversation and there will still be a tracker thread so people can catch up with what’s going on. Also happy to put myself forward to be a part of the trusted few of keeping the tracker thread up to date.

A locked thread where whores like dov have access to post stuff from D1 and posts from our resident ITK’s would be just as good as a ticker if Herc and Trix would prefer that to a ticker? Or is that essentially what the ticker would be!

Whatever makes mods life easier is way forward , apart from shutting down the site, is golden.

Always makes me laugh that people can complain about a free website that they chose to log in to and can't follow easy rules.

We might need to advertise off site...

I'll vote for the newly proposed system. With Paratici at the transfer helm we're back to the good old days of tonnes of ITK and other media leaked info that we just simply haven't seen for a number of years. I try to keep to the rules as much as possible but already got clipped on a post a week or so ago, which in hindsight makes sense, but at the time of posting I thought was fine. So a more relaxed thread makes sense, especially if we self police as you say.

When I come onto the site it's ITK thread followed by ITK discussion thread to see if I've missed anything or an ITK has commented, followed by the relevant player thread.
So, for me, an extended ITK thread, followed by a relaxed ITK discussion thread would make more sense.

I know it's easy to say 'follow the rules' but I rarely ever post in the ITK discussion but have still accidentally posted thinking I was in a player thread of been scrolling through a load of pages, seen a comment and responded without remembering which thread I was in.
The longer someone has been on the site and the more they post would increase the likelihood of this happening so it feels a bit unfair that the biggest contributors would be banned for this.

The RO goes straight to twitter and we'll still use it. I think that's the main objection, it's too visible. This should be a compromise where it's not lost but it's not sent all over the internet.
Can we not just make up a new ITK for those who don’t want their info accredited to their name. A bit like the use of “the goat”. I like to just read the news not hear all the pros and cons for it.
