Sounds like an ideal way to reduce the admin workload and simultaneously make it easier for everyone to keep up-to-date on ITK.

That means we'd all have plenty of time to discuss the Kane saga in four different threads simultaneously (or are we up to five now?). ?

Genuinely not sure why you haven't already considered changes like these!

I like the suggestions. To be able to just dip in and out of the ITK thread to see what's happening without having to wade through all the other shite when I'm busy (most of the time!) would be a real timesaver.

Go for it!

We have.
We even tried very similar a few years back but it never worked well and ended up as a mess.
I'm hoping this time the nature of the ITK info has changed enough where it'll work.

Please could we have dedithreads for:

1: Suggested songs for new players

2: Suggested teams incorporating new or rumoured new players?

Feel free to start the songs one. The teams once is a bit trickier to stop it just being a discussion on every single rumour.

Tbh I think you guys have a pretty good handle on it, yes it drifts time to time but on the whole it's contained. I'd also miss A&C's shitstorms.

While I miss the days of 'Blue & Yellow' and other glorious cryptic clues that didn't ever get their meanings confirmed. What we saw over the summer with the manager thread was a bit of a shitshow and provided all the evidence we need that people can't be trusted not to fill threads up with spam.

Hopefully people will stick to light hearted banter and theories rather than wasting two hours catching up on another 60 pages of hate, mid-life crisis and meltdowns.

See I thought the manager thread was brilliant. Pure chaos. My only issue was if I didn't have a lot of time it was near impossible to just get the highlights. This new proposal solves that.

I like some of the changes proposed, but I´m at the same wary of a more open and free flowing transfer thread. The examples in several Spurs pages on Facebook for example, where theres just a total shambles and impossible to find any useful information anywhere, and any stupid link to any player in the world is being posted is just exhausting. I´ve grown to be somewhat fond of the heavy policing of the admins in the ITK thread, and the more relaxed and "crazy" player threads.

But hey, as long as the spirit of this site remains more or less the same, Im´m happy! :-D

The problem is, using the old analogy, you can only please all of the people some of the time, or some of the people all of the time.

I was a mod on a.n.other Spurs forum a couple of years back, and we tried various ways to do similar to what Rob has suggested. It never fully worked as there were always those who ignore every instruction no matter how clear.

Personally, like some others on here, I'm very wary about posting anything in the current ITK discussion thread, and yes I wish it was a little "lighter" in moderation, but at the same time I know it will descend into nonsense if allowed to drift. Catch 22.

Sounds like something that's worth revisiting, let's see how it goes.

Keeping the transfer discussion thread on-topic is becoming more and more of an issue and dealing with the inevitable PMs from people who lose their access is almost a full-time job.

We think things work well as they are but we're considering if the effort is worth it.

An alternative we're considering is where to have two threads running:

A "Transfer Discussion Thread" to replace the ITK Discussion Thread.
This would be a more relaxed version of the current discussion thread. We still don't want it full of twitter crap but we won't heavily police it so it'll be more free-flowing but also very much discussing the latest news. The player threads will still exist for more general discussion of the players and we'll shepherd people into those as necessary. We'll encourage people to use the Spam rating to self-moderate it a bit.

A "Transfer News Ticker" as a new (locked) thread.
This will be locked and we'll need to recruit a few people who'll have permission to post into it. The idea is that any ITK goes in here (i.e. every blue post) as well as anything considered real news (e.g. tweets/articles from Ally or other respected journos/sources). This should be the place to catch up quickly on what's been said recently.

We've tried similar to the above before and it didn't really work but that was years ago and things have changed since then so it might be worth revisiting.

As we've found before, whichever way we do it, people will complain so we thought the fairest way to gauge opinion was to put it to a vote. Depending on how tight the result is, we might not necessarily go with the winner and might need to think up a 3rd option to satisfy more people.

Rob, A&C, personally, I’d say make this as manageable for you guys as you can.

On the one hand a more relaxed thread, in whatever format, won’t be as concise for the reader, but is that really a big deal? On the other, it will carry on as it is now but you guys will end up working full time on it and that’s not sustainable……….plus A&C needs time off each week to collect his pension :D

Start off with sustainability as a fixed goal and make it work as best it can from there, I’m sure it will.

Fwiw and I know this is off topic, but Blue and Yellow did get confirmed it was Damiao from Brazil and a young Italian forward who's name escapes me. POTL got a lot of stick because those 2 didn't happen when he was so confident, but I can assure you POTL knew his shit.
