Never underestimate the mighty Spurs.
PSG a classy talented side
and ten minutes in and a goal down I feared the worst.
But we settled in and the red card turned the game.
Vorm had nothing to do second half.
Couple of crackers from Eriksen and Toby
and our unsettling pressing which led to Dier's goal
and Bob's your Auntie Mary.
Some serious intent shown by both teams.
Dembele and Eriksen excellent.
Some looked a bit Ibiza beachy (Harry and Dele)
well pleased by performance and result.

Positives:
Eriksen and Dembele look ready to start the season right now.
Kane, Dele & Victor looked like adults coming into a U23s game when they came on, pure confidence and composure (need those three to stay fit).
GKN matching Alves physically, and covering back well, showing plenty of pace.
KWP not looking out of place.
Onomah looking composed in the centre.
TOB looking composed in the centre.
Winks kicking a football again.

Negatives:
Dier trying to play the game at walking pace, and passing straight back to whover passed him the ball.
GKN & KWP too often ending up facing the touchline with opponents penning them in.
Onomah looking lost out wide.
Vincent looking lost.
CCV.

CCV commits himself for the first goal and gets caught out.

KWP out of position for their second goal.

Both will learn from it and taught how to deal with each instances better, nothing too much to worry about.

KWP was probably out of position for that goal but the main culprit was CCV again. What on earth is he doing so deep and going so far to the left? He is almost behind Davies. It's astoundingly bad play from him. KWP should have reacted quicker but man, that was horrid from CCV.

Seems to be a lot of writing off of CCV and KWP...????

Fucking hell, they're both young with a lot to learn and will make mistakes but a lot of positives particularly with KWP from that game.

I bet if you swapped Toby for CCV he would've been maritaled a bit more defensively.

I haven't seen anyone write them off.

Don't agree that KWP was out of position for that goal at all.

We had position and he was wide as the FB's are asked to be in our system. GKN or Dembele (can't remember which) lost the ball where they really shouldn't have been losing it on the other side of the pitch and KWP didn't have time to get back. It's not his fault that other players lost the ball and left him high and dry.

Also disagree with some of the comments on Onomah. I thought he was quite good. Nominally he was named on the right, but similar to Eriksen, Dele and Son when they are named out there he came centrally as a 'rotating 10,' got in good positions and drove us forward on a number of occassions.

Kinda counter-productive and silly to allow red cards for non-violent technical offences like this in a pre-season game. Wouldn't Poch have preferred 11 v. 11?

I suspect the ability of the coaches to informally agree to keep it 11 v. 11 is constrained by the sad pretence that pre-season games these days are part of a competitive cup competition. I really don't care at all for this formalisation of pre-season.

Great goal by Erkisen

Dembele was outstanding

Toby, Jan, Wanyama, Dier all played well

Kane looks to be getting up to speed, same for Dele who really should have scored

CCV and KWP got some valuable game time even if both can be faulted for goals

I thought Oakley-Booth did well

NKD at least showed some promise, but Janssen looks no better than last season, slow and never a goal threat

Completely agree. The BBC were claiming Liverpool had won their first silverware of the season yesterday and Coutinho had scored a goal of the season candidate etc, haha.

We played with a flat back four not a back five, you need to anticipate the ball being lost and he was massively out of position for a right back, he was in line with eriksen when the ball was lost. He was far too forward.

But yeah I'm not sure what CCV was also doing, if he stayed inbetween the two attackers then he could have been able to come across and block pastore's shot.

Good to see the sky sports website have absolutely not coverage or reports on our game, too busy talking about man utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and man city.

It's because they didn't show the games.

The media is a joke nowadays, only report what they want to.

New kit looks nice.

The big, bold, red AIA logo completely ruins it for me. Even ignoring the Arsenal connection, red on white just looks so tacky.

A club as money obsessed and morally vacuous as Real Madrid manage to make their logo conform to their club colours, so why can't we do the same?

I think last nights game puts to bed any thoughts about whether CCV, KWP and Onomah are ready for the first team. They are nowhere near ready, we definitely need a backup for Trippier, if he gets injured/suspended I shudder to think what would happen if we had to play KWP at right back for any length of time.

Harsh,
Very harsh
They will all get more experience and better.
They will be paired with more experienced players;
shock some of us and surprise us all.

Not harsh at all. They "will" get better? Maybe, but "will" get better is not ready "now" is it? Which is what I said.
"Paired with more experienced players"?? When will they be paired with more experienced players than Jan Vertonghen?
