Not getting carried away, been here too many times before.

The games against Liverpool and City will be hugely nail biting affairs if we're still alongside them in the race. Especially if the game at Anfield is a repeat of last season! Don't remember the City game though

If we're still a couple of points behind Liverpool when we play them the pressure will all be on them.

Say they're two points ahead, that will mean we've reduced a 9 point gap just to two points in the weeks building up to the game.

That's massive psychologically.

For us to be a realistic chance, we'd have to beat Chelsea away, Arsenal at home, and then take minimum 4 points from City and Liverpool away, all while not dropping points to the lower teams.

It's a massive ask.

You're assuming they won't drop more points either side of those games. Liverpool definitely will imo.

But yes it's still a tough ask, but it's so good we're in with a shout as we get close to the business end of the season.

If we're still in the discussion after we visit Anfield at the end of march, then it may be the time to start speculating. That will leave us with home games against Brighton, Huddersfield, West Ham and Everton and away games at City and Bournemouth.

It'll still take some doing, but if we can just get past Leicester, then there's every chance Kane will be back and hopefully firing when we take on Burnley on the 23rd.

That being said, since the thread is (for now) about top 4; beat Leicester and we're at 60 points. 75 probably gets us CL. 15 points from 12 games shouldn't be beyond us, to put it mildly.

Liverpool are cracking because city are piling on the pressure. It's a tough one whether it's better for us if city win on Wednesday

Takes spotlight away from us

Am I right in saying if Liverpool lose to bournmouth and city don't beat Everton we can go top of the League by beating Leicester and Burnley??

We can indeed. Even if Liverpool and Man City win we we can move to 2 points of the top by winning our next 2 matches.

Yes but there's no rush, plenty of time to take them.
Wearing my most optimistic hat I love the thought of rolling up the title in our new stadium, come on, that's the stuff dreams are made of, I know life's not like that but this isn't real life this is football.

Didn’t we beat them easily this season with the same players they have now

No they never had Vardy or the lad they have brought back from WBA (looks handy), we also had Alli playing even though Kane was on the bench

For how long? Their lead is being cut into. When we lost a couple of games with injuries to our important players, we were being called the same thing.

Liverpool are still top of the league so they haven't bottled anything yet so just calm it with the bottler thing, it just reeks of desperation.

We haven't discussed the impact the Champions League might have on either side yet. I think the CL is particularly interesting with regards to City.

City will almost certainly beat Schalke, but what draw they get after that could shape the season. They get sloppy at times, in every match recently they have had a down spell, and Leicester, Newcastle and Palace all managed to punish them for it. And there's no doubt that Pep craves the CL title, even more so since he failed to win one with Bayern. They have the best squad, there's no doubt about it, and if they were playing as well as they did in the league for most of last season I'd say they could do both. But now that they've had a few upset defeats in the PL I wouldn't put it past them slipping up in more PL games as they go full tilt for the CL title.

We are still massive outsiders though, given we have to go away to both the teams ahead of us.

Indeed. If I was a betting man I’d put money on Liverpool and City going through to the QFs and us going out, which could give us a handy advantage in the next couple of months.

Fuck the UCL and play every pl game like its your last. Realistically speaking if we win all of the remaining games we are champions....think about it. Just 13 games

We are all talking like Ciry haven’t been feeling the pressure. They lost to newcastle and I think Chelsea could beat them too. Not saying we will keep winning or anything but I think all 3 teams will drop a lot of points before the end of the season

For us I think the games which will decide if we have a chance are the city and Liverpool games. Win or maybe even draw those it will be close
Exactly! Whilst it's a massive ask for us to win as we'd mostly likely need to win pretty much every game we really don't know about City for sure. They were given the chance to make significant ground up on Liverpool and even went one up against Newcastle, and still lost!

When we lost to Wolves - we were out of it.
When we lost to United - we were out of it.

Yet here we are, 5 points off the top with the leaders showing signs of nerves. And that's missing our two most inspirational players.

Now, we may transpire to lose a few more games and not really get close enough to winning or we may surprise everyone and pick up more points expected whilst the others drop too many points. The truth is you really can't see what's coming round the corner.

if we all matched the same results against the same ops as last season for the rest of the season, the table for the top 6 would be as

1 …. Man C ….94
2…. Tottenham ….87
3 …. Liverpool ….86
4 ….Man U ….80
5 …. Arsenal ….74
6 ….Chelsea ….70

last season Liverpool drew with every club they face this March

Even if we win all of our matches Liverpool could still afford to draw one in addition to losing against us and still win the league as long as they maintain their superior goal difference, currently + 14 to ours.

That's mathematically but he didn't say mathematically he said realistically, they won't win all theirs so if we win all ours realistically we could win the league was I think what he meant.
