Massive blow, but we do get to see 4-4-2 for a couple of months.

Defoe, now is your chance!

Think we should try 4231
we have the player. To suit this system, even with the injuries we have.

"It feels okay now," said Van der Vaart in De Telegraaf. "I hope in one to two weeks to make my comeback.

"The past has proven that I can quickly recover from such an injury."

We play Kranjcar in his position. Simple. I don't see why we have to change our entire formation every time Van der Vaart gets injured when we have Niko ready to play the second striker role already.

We have been saying that for a year...because it just seems blinidingly obvious
Yet, having putting him in central midfield, with a semi-motivated Modric no less :eek:mg:, Redknapp seems absolutely unprepared to ever try Krankjar in the VDV role.

It's a blow but we have someone to score goals in Adebayor and I'm hoping Defoe will find his scoring boots again

I think Defoe and Adebayor could work well

Modric in the hole?

Know it didn't work when he first came here, but that was Bent and Modric is now twice the player

Parker and Sandro/Hudd in the middle - well worth a try in my opinion

Kranjcars a good shout too

GDS is also a possibility. If there is a role that he would have a chance to show he can excel for us it is the floating role behind Adebayor.

Nikolai is the obvious replacement, he's the only midfielder we have who knows how to stay close to both striker and midfield at the same time.

Won't happen though. Defoe will play, which I can live with in all honesty as Adebayor is just the type of strike partner Defoe likes.

I can just see Defoe and Ade hitting it off scoring a hat full of goals and then when VDV comes back Harry will by scratching his head trying to work out where to put VDV!
Either that or Defoe will continue his goal drought and we'll be desperate for VDV

Really pissed with this news, starting to feel like the season is over before its even started for us....ok OTT, but nevertheless are luck with injuries is shocking.

3 years ago I would have said Ade and Defoe would be the best It's up to them now.
I'd like to see Niko used in a sensible position but i doubt it's going to happen.

VDV will be a huge miss.
Do we have any news on Lennons injury?

We could do without missing both these players. Lennons pace will be valuable against a team like Wolves who will sit back and try and make it hard to get in behind them.
