Yes, we're better without VDV. We don't want any pesky world class players in our line up. We're better off with mostly iffy performances from the likes of Kranjcar and Bale. We don't want anybody adding a bit of class to our performances. Oh no.

Team Work + Work Rate important to me.

VDV is good but not automatic starter or Key as people think.

here we go, we will beat better Liverpool ( so you can't say it's home )

I think you've formed your opinion when seeing VDV behind substandard strikers who fail to hold the ball up. With Ade up front VDV will be able to play higher up the pitch rather than coming so deep to try and link play. I guarantee we will score more goals with VDV and Ade up to than with 442 and pav/defoe.

Not just that, My arguement that he is a bit lazy and so soft with his play ( there is doubts about his fitness ) , at least compred to Kranjcar or even Modric who are a capble of playing in the same position.

VDV can change some games with his good shots, it's give us some positives but more negatives due to this issue.

if he was with us 4-5 years ago i could give him automatic XI, when we were crying for the likes Lampard or Gerrard in our team. But EPL has changed since then, the top four a lot better ( apart from Arsenal ) and even they kept controlling games against us !

now we've the likes of Hudd & Bale in the team who can give you goals from mid., specailly if we used them even better.

Niko as well is good coming from left, he is dangerous outside the box, only problem for him Redknapp kept using Bale as LM when he didn't need both fullbacks to be defensive like Corluka & Ekotto in one team/time ( one is enough ) , specially vs team likes WBA & Stoke at home.

Also, Redknapp could even develop Lennon to better player, as scorer, if he switch him to LW sometimes in 4-3-3. Why the likes of Ashley Young and SWP or even Walcott could produce better than him, while I'm confident he is a bit better player.

VDV can be useful, but only in 4-4-1-1 with 2 defensive Mid. likes Hudd and Parker behind him, so Modric on LM and Bale as LB, and that's only work vs average teams or home games, where VDV find his best games.

There is no question for me with the squad we have as to what our best line up is, and VDV is of course part of that, its 4231:

Friedel

Walker
Dawson
King
BAE

Sandro
Parker

VDV
Modric
Bale

Adebayor

Keep that side fit, and we can do special things this season !

You can question his fitness levels but to call him lazy and soft is ludicrous.

In the previous two league games, who was it that was chasing down the ball whilst his team mates were too busy consoling themselves?

Hudd goals from midfield?

What nonsense this is. We're not as good with our top scorer in the team? Give me a break.

What today confirmed above all else is how much difference a top class striker can make. We'll see how VDV does with Adebayor up top.

Lets not start jumping on Huddlestone's belly....we have a good midfielder in Huddlestone when fully fit we'll see his qualities within the team.

Exactly, anyway we have fantastic options now and if Hudd regains his fitness he'll be a particularly useful option at home when we wont require two combative central midfielders ie against lesser opposition.

Yes, we have a good midfielder, but his goalscoring record is hardly something to scream about.

I was just going to say the same thing. VDV is one of the most hard working players in the team, never stops running, tackling back, looking for the ball, if anyone says he is lazy they are watching the wrong player.

I do wonder sometimes about some of our fans.

Rafael van der Vaart could be in contention to play in Tottenham Hotspur's next Premier League match against Liverpool following a rapid recovery from injury.

The Dutch playmaker suffered a hamstring injury during Spurs' home defeat by Manchester City last month and was expected to be sidelined for around six weeks.

He sat out his country's Euro 2012 qualifiers and was also unavailable for Spurs' first win of the season against Wolves on Saturday.

However, the former Ajax ace is optimistic he will be fit for next weekend's home date with Liverpool and could even return against PAOK Salonika in the Europa League on Thursday.

No problem

"I have been treated intensively by (physiotherapist) Dick van Toorn," Van der Vaart told his official website earlier in the week.

"I was able to do proper turns again and regular sprints. Next weekend seems like no problem to me!"

Veteran physio Van Toorn has been impressed by the 28-year-old's recovery and feels he is ready to return to action.

Van Toorn said: "In the hospital they said Rafa would be out for more than a month but he can play in next week's Tottenham match.

"I will leave that decision up to the medical staff of Tottenham.

"Rafael is a crown jewel for football. I have rarely met a player in all those years who is so dedicated to his job and who wants to work so hard to get back on the pitch."

Funny..but was just thinking how many of our players look more comfortable in a conventional 442. Rafa back in contention changes all that. A nice headache for Harry to have mind you.
