Richarlison hasn’t proved to be a top striker in the Premier league, 49 goals in 200 appearances. In an ideal world we have two top quality players for every position on the pitch. Most teams don’t have that luxury as it’s hard to keep players happy unless you can offer rotation opportunities in top competitions like the champions league.
We have NO matches in Europe this year. Yes it would be good to have two top quality forwards but it’s gonna cause problems once one of them sees extra bench time - as we saw with Richy last year.
Yes Richy only scored 1 league goal last season but he is a proven scorer in the league. Any forward we bring in from a foreign league won’t be proven in the league.
As I said, I see the argument for a good quality flexible forward, but a specialist will be a push seeing we’ve recently spent 60m on a striker who needs chances.
He isn’t good enough to be our leading striker.
