In an ideal world we have two top quality players for every position on the pitch. Most teams don’t have that luxury as it’s hard to keep players happy unless you can offer rotation opportunities in top competitions like the champions league.

We have NO matches in Europe this year. Yes it would be good to have two top quality forwards but it’s gonna cause problems once one of them sees extra bench time - as we saw with Richy last year.

Yes Richy only scored 1 league goal last season but he is a proven scorer in the league. Any forward we bring in from a foreign league won’t be proven in the league.

As I said, I see the argument for a good quality flexible forward, but a specialist will be a push seeing we’ve recently spent 60m on a striker who needs chances.
Richarlison hasn’t proved to be a top striker in the Premier league, 49 goals in 200 appearances.
He isn’t good enough to be our leading striker.

And then this is Fiorentina Vlahovic compared with Randal Kolo-Muani, which paints a much more accurate and balanced picture. Especially considering that Vlahovic would've been two years younger based off these seasons.

And, playing that game, it was nice to add in Randal and also Kane, Toney and Jesus.

how many of those apperances were as a striker I dont think many at all. He has predominantly played on the wing for Watford, Everton and us. He plays CF for Brazil and has scored more than 1 in 2 and was shining at the world cup in that position before his injury.

Not to mention Everton and Watford were both awful in his time there and we played him as a second wing back more than a winger really.

He's mainly played as a winger for defensive teams during his time in the prem.

When he's played as a striker in an attacking team he has a good strike rate (20 in 44 caps for Brazil)

I think he deserves a chance in Ange's system that values strikers that have good movement, and high work rate.

Weirdly at Everton he scored more playing off the left (almost 1 in 2) whereas up top he scored closer to 1 in 3.

Overall not bad numbers, if not exactly groundbreaking.

The caveat being most of those appearances happened at Watford and then Everton, so he arguably hasn’t played infront of a creative, attacking team as yet.

So you want someone that doesn’t even specialise in playing as a striker just because Brazil start him as their striker.
International football is very different and the depth of quality CFs from Brazil has been average for years they even say so themselves.
If Richarlison wasn’t here would he be on your list to replace Harry Kane?

Frankfurt picked this lad up on a free transfer.

We really need to improve our approach to the market. We need to have eyes on these players before the likes of Frankfurt pick them up.
Exactly. Would almost want us to rather splunk Kane money in 3 under the radar players who may become great. We seem to have a better record with these types of singings versus the blockbuster ones.

He does specialise in playing as a striker that's the position he played his whole career before being shoe horned into the wing in the prem. In Brazil he isn't thought of as a winger who plays CF he is a CF.

But successive managers saw his best position being out wide?
right ok.

And the question about him being a target if he wasn’t here?
Would he be on your list of replacements?

Calvert Lewin and Kane were hardly going to run up and down the wing were they.

Might I suggest taking this debate to Richarlison thread?

I think the answer is, "it is impossible to say" - he would be playing somewhere else and may or may not be doing well.

If he's looking great up front in training, banging them in, and Ange want's to play him as a striker, I'm all for it. If not, I won't be wondering why or losing sleep about it. As you say, nothing suggests he's a proven striker.

So Everton paid £40 million for a CF to play on the wing?
Im sure you see what I’m saying here.
He isn’t good enough to get us where we want to be.
His numbers are very average.

I think Richarlison can do well but it's more a matter of whether you want to take that risk by not getting another as well. At the end of the day we would be losing a striker who scored 30 goals. Most quality forwards we have over the years get about half that. That would be a good number for Richarlison so around 1 in 2 games. Similar to what Son typically gets so to replace that 55-60 goals we got from Son and Kane we need ideally another goalscorer to spread the goals. Either way you look at it we already have Richarlison and Son with Kane so losing Kane and not getting a top striker weakens us.

Never heard of him tbh.

Any good?

What’s his playing style?

Good goal record?

Can he play on the wing also or just ST?

Would be thrilled with either Muani or Vlahovic. I'm weirdly confident that if either one of them signs that they'll thrive in Ange's system. Just realized Vlahovic is 2 years younger than Muani, he looks way older than 23.

And that Everton team was awful, as it was this past year. He was one of the few players that kept them up.
