Dembele is our best football player and I'm glad after a few years we have finally found a way for him to shine
Great player. But Word of warning about him though. When you think youve got the best out of him he suddenly loses that form just liek that. Happened so many times before. Strange but it seems he cant carry the weight of expectations on his shoulder.

MOTM for me is Dembele.

I have no idea what has happened to him but he looks like he has a fire in his belly that he's never had before.

The strength, the close control, the way he rolls away from players and drives forward. He's always had those things but seemed to lack some key ingredient.

Honestly, at the moment he's a joy to watch.

Totally agree about Walker. He has been class recently and was excellent again tonight.

*crosses fingers*

He really does seem to have cut out the silly mistakes and is focussing more on improving his defensive skills and getting the basics right.
Since - and including - the Swansea game he's been very good and has cut out the nutty nonsense.

If he can keep it up and consolidate his defensive play and then introduce attacking drive into his game again he could have a very good season.

I agree. Even if it means he does less bombing forward then I'd happily let him just focus on becoming a better defender this season. It seems to be working.

Love the Belgian central defence.

Haven't felt so happy with that position since we used to wheel Ledley out with no prior notice and we'd find out just before the game he was starting.

We will need him to contribute in the final third, but happy to see him continue to sure up his defensive game over the next few games.

Proper bromance going on there. Sweet harmony.

Walker played with an arrogance tonight I've not seen from him for at least two years. Genuinely impressed.
His reading of the game has really improved.. it was his off the ball work that really impressed me, knowing what run to track.. he used to have a habit of been drawn into midfield to close down. I think the communication from himself & Dier is really good.. the confidence in each other is showing. I think he knows Dier & Toby will cover that area

He was on a run like that last season. Got dropped after a nightmare start against WH, a bit unfairly I thought.

I remember that. He was really bad that game. After playing superbly the past few games

Dier, Lamela, Eriksen, Kane, Rose, Walker and the CB's all good.

Actually thought Dembele was pretty average. Sure his goal & strength was great, but other than that - nah.
- Passing the ball backwards all the time to Toby, Jan and Dier.
- Didn't go 100% into duels.
- Still taking to long to find a pass forward and slowing our attack down by 50% when he has the ball.
- Not picking out a single key-pass and not many long passes either.
- Did loose quite a few balls today compared to the last couple of games he played.

MOTM Dier or Walker for me.

Dembele was our best player tonight, IMO. We lost control when he went off. Walker was also in the running for MOM.

Rose, Dier, Verts and Toby had good games. Lloris was poor.

Alli was poor most of the night, Eriksen was okay. Lamela was okay most of the night but then came up massive the last 15'. Kane was meh besides for his beautifully taken goal, of course.

Mason wasnt great tonight when he came on but to be expected, IMO. He's shaking off the rust.

Onomah was good in his short little cameo tonight. Well done to him. Hope we see more of him.

I don't think any player had a really strong overall performance. Going to re watch the game before doing any ratings but a quick synopsis:

Rose had a very good first half, not so much second half. Eriksen actually gave the ball away countless times in the first 20 minutes but he was involved in all three goals and put in a pretty good shift in the second half.

Dier did pretty well but had that very wobbly moment in the second half and when we went into panic mode I guess it shows with some of the younger players out there.

Talking of the panic mode, Lamela was fantastic in that last ten minutes in scrapping for the ball, winding the clock down and the pass for Kane oozed class and composure. His closing down was superb in that latter quarter of the game. Can't remember him being that involved in the first half though.

Jan didn't cover himself in glory for their goal but I guess when you've pretty much sod all to do all night its easy to switch off a bit. Both CB's didn't have much to do for the majority of the game, but again in panic mode we really were inviting more pressure on ourselves.

Kane kept plugging away but nothing seemed to be really coming off for him and Lescott was handling him reasonably well I thought. Took the goal superbly.

That leaves Walker and Dembele. I think we lost our hold of the midfield when the latter went off, so its between these two for me...our best overall performers on the night. Some of Walker's defending was drool worthy tonight. Decide later when I re-watch it.

I make this one of those super-rare occasions where Hugo was the worst player in a Spurs jersey. That suicidal effort to come for the cross that Gestede should have headed into an empty net was insane, and should have cost us two points tonight.

How many times has Hugo been the worst player in the side at the end of a game for us? Not very many, I reckon. Still love you, Boss.

Dier easily, anyone else is a travesty.

Or Dembele lol. Agree, he does seem to have a renewed vigor for the game.

Toby is a beast as well, looking better and more comfortable every game. Bad haircut aside, I think hes a bawssseeeeeeee.
