what else did he do? Give away the foul for the goal?Get bullied of the ball easy? He did finish his goal very well and made a good ball for the 2nd goal

Don't forget when he let Charlie Adam, the 'Wizard on the Wing' absolutely skin him just before half time. Appalling. How they didn't score from that was beyond me.

Lloris 6 - Should of saved their goal, but took control for the rest of the game

Walker 5 - he worried me with some of his passing

Caulker 6 - played well

Dawson 7 - Had a better game than he did v Chelscum, so unlucky not to get on the score sheet

Vertonghen 7.5 - i thought he played very well, and not a bad option on the left against lower teams, definately better than playing Naughton there

Parker 4 - can't wait for Sandro to return
Huddlestone 4 - second game running his set pieces let him down, and looked a little slow on hitting passes compared to what we know he can do

Lennon 5.5 - just wished he never picked up that injury, he isn't providing the pace he did prior, and that makes his partnership with Walker less effective

Bale 6 - in my eyes i would prefer him on the left, and believe if he was we wouldn't need to replace BaE as they were like Lennon and Walker last season

Dempsey 8.5 - man of the match for me, should have scored 2 but at least he got an assist

Adebayor 8 - thought he worked hard again, and glad he got the winner

Subs
Defoe 3 - took him an age before he even touched the ball

Dembele 6 - thought he managed to speed things up and be more direct

Sigurdsson - wasn't on long enough to do anything

The first point about AVBs management style, or the 'human factor' as they call it in the book is hugely important when building a team and a positive mentality within the group and it's that factor which I guess allows AVB to get his tactical methods across. I think this season he's devoted to instilling that mentality within the group which is quite resoundingly working at the moment, hopefully now the team will be ready to take on board the tactical concepts that he got his name for.

I'd like to think next season, with a pre season to work with a squad he knows well he will be a bit less conservative and we may see a side play more exciting, creative football. He needs some new players in and also to trust our youth players, I really hope we see this come next season because as much as I think he's done a great job with our weakest squad of players we've had for a few years I haven't really been on the edge of my seat yet this season all too much.

As for Hudd, you know my stance on the guy and I think we have in Tom Carroll the player that some fans think Hudd is, but actually isn't, but on Sunday I didn't have many complaints with him. True, in a game like that you are looking for that something extra from your 'passing' CMs and I think Tom Carroll would have done that and maybe found that incisive pass from deep that Hudd far too often fails to deliver.

I forgot to mention Caulker (which I highlighted in the original reply). Your assessment resonated with me. I nearly said something very similar, and have said something similar previously. He has this habit of almost ghosting through games doesn't he.

Let's see...

Sig + Dempsey + Holtby = 15.5Million
David Bentley... 15million.

Can we agree that in terms of value for money the players we have now offer us more? Surely in all seriousness though Value should be apart of any equation?

Dempsey has in general been pretty reasonable value for 6million and I for one am glad we have 3 players who provide value to the squad rather than 1 flash in the pan player.

My god, Dempsey is not a first team player when we have most of our players fit so why does he get so much stick? Who else could we get as a back up forward who can cover multiple positions and score winning goals? BC says he only has 2 of our 12 for the season but when you factor in Bale's 8 and Dembele's debut goal (I think that was a winner?) that makes Dempsey our 2nd best match winner. 2 doesn't sound much but that's 6 points and I've not seen a stat yet for how many of his goals tied games that we went on to win, like against Stoke.

I'm no Dempsey "fan boy" but I've found myself defending him over the course of the season. The simple fact is that he's not meant to be a world beater, he wasn't signed with expectations that Levy would be able to sell him to Madrid for £30m after a few seasons. He was signed to cover the front line and chip in with some goals over the course of the season which is exactly what he's done. Why then do people feel the need to label him as shit? It just seems so disrespectful to me, the joy some people seem to get from having their opinions validated (in their own minds at least) is pretty sad.

Why not just accept that he's good for a backup player but not good enough for our starting lineup? Theres no need to slag our players off at all. The only stat I care about is our points total for the season which would be lower if Levy hadn't made this signing on the last day.
