Think the blueprint for Tim is all about players available and their form, that picks the XI and formation not the other way around.

I think he meant as a general rule of thumb....more often than not I could see it being logical.

Lloris 7 - Didn't have to do much, but made a few good saves. Couldn't do anything about the goal.

Walker 7.5- Impressive performance again. Solid defensively, but his attacking work rate was excellent. Never gave up, even though some of his crosses were a little dodgy.
Dawson 6 - Dominated by Bony in first half, better in the second. Solid performance.
Chiriches - 7 - very comfortable, didn't get bullied, more composed than Dawson imo.
Rose 6 - Attacking was good but at fault for their goal, didn't do too much. Still need a great LB imo.

Dembele 7 - Very composed again, dominated in the middle again, good attacking and defending. Awful decision re the miss though, hence only a 7.
Eriksen 8.5 - Very very good, everything he did was correct. Does the simpmle things well and the scoop turn and the cross were divine. Class player, absolute bargain, starting to get used to the PL more now.
Bentaleb 7 - Very solid again, his passing was excellent, was very confident, calm and composed on the ball. Reminds me a bit of Paul Scholes. Star.

Lennon 5.5 - Might seem harsh but he lost the ball on multiple occasions and didn't do enough to warrant the same rating as Rose and Dawson. Ben Davies handled him very well.
Adebayor 9 - MOM for me. Everything he did was great. Very good finishing, held it up well, looks like he's back. Link up with Eriksen was very promising.
Chadli 5 - Proved why he hasn't been starting. Was poor again today, didn't really do anything, and should have scored a second goal.

Very good away performance.

Tight between Ade and Erikssen but i gave it to the great Dane. Erikssen was excellent in the first half, always showing for the ball, moving it quickly. I actually thought Ade was quite poor in the first half, goal aside. Couldn't hold up the ball very well, and was constantly out muscled - even by Routledge!!.

Second half though and Ade was excellent. Took his goal really well, and everything was going through him. Created a couple of chances and was holding up the ball alot better. Not sure if that was because the game opened up more, but either way, it's great to have him on form. If we can get Soldado scoring then we could have a great finish to the season with both forwards pushing each other.

Shout for Chriches who i though had a strong game against a battering ram in Bony.

Chadli gets too much stick. He hasn't been spectacular but he is retaining possession most of the time and not giving the ball back to the opposition (which isn't what you can say about other possibles *cough* Lamela *cough*). We hope he can build from there as he gets a run of games and more confident.

i went for bentaleb, not an obvious choice, but he was the platform on which the victory was built. disciplined, good on the ball, composed and made tonnes of crucial interceptions and tackles.
Did you watch the first half. He was poor then as the through balls to Boney was going through the channels that he should have been marking. Yes, he upped his game big time in the second half, probably TS or one of the coaching staff pointing this fact to him.

Ade, closely followed by Eriksen.

Adebayor was in top form today. His contribution all over the pitch was impressive to see.

Lloris - 8 - made some good saves and marshaled he's area well. Blameless for the goal.
Walker - 7 - set up the own goal.
Dawson - 6 - struggled to cope with Bony.
Chiriches - 7 - I would have given him an 8 but he was more interested in helping up his opponent than defending when we conceded.
Rose - 7 - set up the 3td goal
Dembele - 7 - good second half. Should have either scored or passed it when clean through.
Bentaleb - 7 - good second half.
Eriksen - 9 - quality performance. Set up the important first goal. Always looked to create.
Lennon - 5 - lacked a final ball on a few occasions and always took the easy option rather than look to attack.
Chadli - 6 - one of his best games for us.
Adebayor - 9 - scored 2 goals and was always involved in the play.

Can't do any ratings until I've worked out how I can label Sherwood a ****. I think his lime green piping is the only thing I have to go on at the moment..

You kidding right?

no. sigurdsson's pressing was excellent and he set eriksen free for the 3rd goal. chadli is just an incredibly bland player who looks like he's not capable of doing anything outside of laying it off 5 yards or being tall.

Still played a big part on 3rd goal and has this season 3 goals at PL on 795 minutes whereas 3 you mentioned have at PL combined 1 goal in 1984 minutes (that's actually pretty piss poor and no fault of Lamela as minutes are mainly to Townsend and Chadli)
Something is really wrong with your reasoning if you can prefer Sigs to the likes of Townsend, Llamela & Co

Why is it so hard for our supporters to know the spelling of one of our players last name? It's Eriksen, not Erikson or Eriksson. It's not hard.

I was pondering this during the game & I think apart from the obvious formation tweak today, other differences were noticable. Primarily, I think that Tim could be gravitating to build his team around Eriksen. As stats show, Chadli took no risks and retained possession, I think, to enable Eriksen to have a freer role & try to make things happen. Sherwood said before that they were going to rotate positions and the mistake people are making is expecting everyone to to make big offensive contributions. It's funny, as I was watching it it gave me memories of Maradona and Valdano leading Argentina in '86. Sure they played 3-5-2 but the 'couple of chiefs /many indians' theory felt apt.

As such, there was a hell of a lot of discipline in that performance exemplified by Bentaleb and Dembele's solidity. Obviously the main problem is that we need to actually play football in the first half an hour of a match soon or we'll end up 2 down & finished. Man City will be a good test of that.

I liked the Naughton sub too. And finally we get to see some of the tactical nous Sherood is mooted to have.

Adebayor, Eriksen 9
Walker, Bentaleb, Chiriches 8
Dawson, Chadli, Dembele, Rose, Lennon, Lloris 7
