Yep, Im dead happy

Ratings wise the was a lot of 6.5's going...I think everybody including Alderwieriieldield had moments, and Watford to there credit really gave it everything when we started to loose grip.

Im giving Trippier MOM just because I've never done that before

I think you're being very generous with the ratings, great won but there were few good performances given the standards set this season.

I think you and others here are discounting an away win against a very very difficult team and the performance it takes to get that result.

My "generous" ratings are given with the conditions and opponent in mind and I am never going to give the kind of ratings I have seen here in a win at a top half team. Especially one in such good form.

I think quite a few of our fans need to have a word with themselves about just what kind of fans they want to be.

Lamela, Kane and Trippier were fantastic. Lamela shades it for me as MOM.

Dembele was good also, I hope its nothing serious.

The defence had a different formation and Ighalo should not have scored considering he had 5 Spurs players around him. Vertonghen and Alderweireld had one of their more difficult games to the season and Dier should have done more for the goal but made up for it with a timely block on Deeley at the end there. Rose was poor and I think that Davies has gone past him.

Alli and Eriksen were average, Carrol was tidy but ineffective.

Very, very happy with the points!!

I could only watch the last 15 minutes. So in this snapshot of the game Lloris and Dier both did things that won us the game. However judging from the comments they had poor games in general, having said that they stood up when it counts, so my MOTM (15mins) goes to Dier.

Went for Kane. It wasn't obvious but I think he did really well in the first half showed some good touches and led from the front. I think he was responsible for getting Brito? the yellow card as it seems as though the ref was giong to walk away from it until Kane came over and created a fuss, and that is why I am loving these guys.

Hindsight should have given it to Lamela or Trippier though neither were obviously better than the other. Lamela's pressing, composure, game management and passing is all top class and his finish was elegant.

Trippier has shown was the hype was about wrt his crossing. Every single one today was dangerous, and I was fuming we didn't use him more once Ake went off. We kept going to Rose who was having a poor game. Trippier showed as what a real crosser looks like and no surprise the only time we got the ball to him when we were a man up it led to a goal.

Thought Alli played as well as he could have today picking up an unfair yellow. You could tell he was really restrained but I thought he put in a really disciplined and mature performance afterwards picking his times to press and tackle, and was the holding mid end of the game.

Mention to Carroll, who I think started slow but also had a decent game, picking out the fullbacks.

Shout to Poch for hopefully silencing all those people who says he has no plan B by going 3 at the back and trying to counter their, hoof it to the 2 big men up front tactic.

Well done boys

Little bit of payback for all the howlers for us by Gomes today. What on earth was he doing for Lamela's goal? Literally moved over to one post and left an open goal. Lamela's always most likely to place it to the keeper's right and he's probably been told to watch for that and over compensated. Fair play to Erik though, kept his composure, assessed the situation and took advantage.

Anyone???
We went for imo:
Kane
Alli ------ Lamela
Rose -- Dembele - Carroll -- Trippier
Vertonghen -- Dier -- Alderweireld
Lloris
People may say we were overrun in midfield, we weren't. They only say that because carroll is small and looks awkward when he throws himself about.

We were slightly overrun on both wings imo as their chances kept coming from wings, as their fullbacks bombed forward whilst there was a bit of nervousness between CB's with some pointy shouty stuff going on before the goal.

Lloris - good as always but a couple of dodgy moments where he came out for a punch

Alderweireld - Good
Vertonghen - Good
Dier - Imo our worst player and his worst game of the season, he was unusually poor with the ball at CB and looked a bit lost at times even though he was only 15 or so yards deeper than usual

Rose - Shocking just as bad Dier but he wasn't at fault for the goal
Trippier - wasn't great but there was one or two decent crosses

Carroll - Wasn't great but he wasn't bad either, after the goal he was moving the ball a lot and kept on trying to get the full backs involved. Second half he faded.
Dembele - Good

Alli - Didot have a great first 30 mins but really grew in to the game and was one of our best players in the second half
Lamela - First 60mins he was our best player and then he faded a bit as he struggled to find space

Kane - Didn't have a great game should have shot first time for a couple of chances and then could have sent Lamela through for a 1vs1(albeit a wide angle) and instead shot way over

Eriksen - was refreshing, he wasn't played wide right and that benefited him imo

Son - good goal and made some good runs

Imo the tactics were as a result of 2 man strike force so it did leave a CB free to cover but that was part of the issue as our team would go for a goal there was too large of a gap between CB's and the other 7 outfield players. Deeney and Igalho would drop off and have a lot space to run at the other 2 CB's.

I hope we don't do the same against Leicester, it could work but imo it should have been done with Wimmer just because Dier hasnt played at CB all season

7 across the board except 8s for Lamela, Kane, Trippier (but work on closing down wide players much faster), and Son!! Lamela earns MotM today for me (y)

3 more hard fought points and the train keeps a rollin' all night long!!!

Ratings for a game like this were always going to be difficult to assess.

Game was 48-hours after Norwich, and Watford played a difficult physical style, on a shit pitch, and a questionable ref.

On top of that, we played a different formation than we are used to.

I thought Trippier played well - his best game of the season. I'd keep Walker, but nice to know Trippier can step in comfortably. Walker still has the pace that Trippier does not possess. Rose did not take his chance as well - I'd keep Davies at LB for now - less attacking threat, but more consistent in the back.

Toby and Jan - not their best game, but I think the adjustment of bring Dier into the back line affected their play.

Dier had the huge block, but was a bit out of sorts today playing further deep - but I chalk that up to tactics/formation more than form. Should have done better on the goal, but in watching the replay, git a bit unlucky, and should have had some help.

Dembele - hope that injury is not serious, he has been critical to the side holding possession this season.

Carroll - I thought he played poorly in the first half - too many questionable passes in bad positions. But, I thought he played better in a deeper role in the second half - picked out some nice long passes. Not a starter, but can still play a role as a squad player.

Alli - very unfortunate to pick up the early yellow. But, he showed a maturity that belies his age by playing in control for the rest of the game. It kept him from making some aggressive tackles that he likes, but he understood the situation, and with the style of game, had he not played as smart as he did, he would have seen red. Not his best game, but he still played well with the limitations of the style and yellow.

Lamela - really an important cog in Poch's system. Took his goal well, and played well in tough conditions.

Kane - tireless performer. Does so much for the team even if he does not score.

Eriksen - coming in for Dembele was a tough ask for him - left us a bit light in midfield.

Son - nice goal (offside, but still). I'd like to see him get a full game, but it probably won't be until the FA cup. Tough to use his pace when the defense is packed in.

Chadli - net

Overall, I thought we did not play with the urgency we needed after the red card - a little too blase. Watford were packed in defense and we just kicked it around without any real attacking intent. We were very fortunate not to concede, and equally as fortunate on Son's goal. A tough victory under difficult circumstance. Put it behind us and time to move on to Everton.

not sure how i feel about this apparent game-winning save by lloris, are we sure he didn't (just about) atone for some pretty poor positioning? if you concede direct from a corner and it goes in at waist-height in the centre of the goal then something has gone very wrong somewhere.

Far from a great performance but 2 days after Norwich, going away to an in form Watford it was always going to require grit. We showed that today so I don't think anyone deserves less than a 7.

Totally agree. It was nearly a really bad gaf IMO....yes he did well to keep it out but there was something wrong with his positioning/concentration or just alertness in the first place I reckon. As great as he is, that was nearly very costly indeed.
