Real challenge to all those who think we havnt blown 4th not buying a striker

Alot of people rated the bye bye Bale thread dumb. I honestly think, had we got one of Negredo, Lisandro or Gomis we would most likely have finished 4th. Without that signing. I think Arsenal will take it, and therefore Bale will ask to leave when we miss out on CL.

Here's the proposition.

I'll bet anyone, that wants to take it on, max bet of 10 pounds, that we don't get 4th place. All the proceeds goes to SC sever costs, you can all dig this thread out in a couple of months. Deal?

Agree totally although I'm as disappointed as most are at not having a new striker. Who can say for sure if Defoe and Ade, when he returns won't suddenly be on fire and take us all the way to 3rd? Top 2 will be out of reach.

In my "where will we finish thread?" I've predicted us to finish 5th. I think it'll be very close between 4th and 5th.

But I don't believe the 'failure' to buy a striker to be the reason why we might drop a place.

In the summer we lost Modric and VDV. These players were top quality and a creative force. We are currently struggling to create chances.

Hopefully Holtby will settle straight away and give us that extra edge that Dempsey and Sigurdsson haven't yet.

Looking at the strikers we've been linked withmakes me think that they wouldn't have made a huge difference this season anyway. Many have raised doubts over Leandro and no guarantee he'd come to a new continent and fire in goals straight away. Remy was asking 90k a week and has reportedly been playing poorly this season.

The best that could happen to us is Ade returning and coming back to form.

I don't believe the simple 'failure to buy a striker' is the reason wemight not get 4th this season.

I think looking at the squads there is not much difference, and we are probably a bit better but they have the advantage of one of the top 3 managers in (albeit short) history of the Premier League and are maybe a but stronger than us mentally.

I just can't see the point of being so negative about our team to the point that one would actually bet that the club he/she supports would not make CL and lose their best player. I think some people have lost sight of what really matters to a fan, which is the fun and enjoyment of watching the club you support play week in and week out in one of the if not the best league in the world. I know things don't always work out, but I think the best thing to do is not to focus on the negatives or in this case the possible future negatives, and instead focus on just watching and enjoying the games. Let's not lose sight of what really matters being a fan, cause sometimes I think some people tend tend to get a bit silly just to prove their points.
