well according to dutch and belgian reports we now have agreed a 12 million fee with ajax for jan vertonghen which wud be a great move. clearly that game tonight showed gallas and especially bassong are not up to stratch. time catching up on gallas imo but he was immense last season in many games and his experience is good to have around but we def need a signing like this in january

He's played twice in 7 months! No pre season or nothing. You're not seriously writing Gallas off after one game?

Yes he's getting on but he's still a class player with a bit left in him yet I reckon, not that we shouldn't be planning for the future mind.

yes twice in seven months and we cant expect should king not be able to playfor him to step up to plate and do business. we were up against muck tonight and between him and that plonker bassong conceded two. i know not directly responsible and i totally blame corluka for second who for me was worst player on pitch but we need some added class and i feel its a clever move cos the ajax lad will leave in summer for big club and us getting in early will mean anything from him between now and summer will be bonus imo

Defensively we were poor no doubt, just think some of these guys need more games under their belts...not easy though with the way our first eleven our performing.

A few more closed doors matches perhaps

games like this just keep players ticking over but if club cant see we dont need a top strong center half after game like that when it counts then i just give up. gallas will give us cover now as it is , bassong will be sold. hopefully king will keep playing prem games, hopefully kaboul keeps form up. fear for dawsons injury and couple this with fact we can get top player in jan in ajax center half then bring it on

no time for sentiment now. buy good players when your winning and doing well in league like liverpool did years ago and spurs will only get stronger. gallas and bassong arent good enough back there

This is why the likes of us don't manage or run football Clubs

Impulsive statements after one defeat.

not for me, there is alot of shit talked about spurs greath depth and strnegth. personally i dont see it and when we are without a certain 2 or 3 players it becomes even worse.

we need players obviously that can make difference in some way and we dont have nearly enough of them and you couple that with certain players who know they are only getting a game cos its a rest day for regulars makes for games like tonight with half arsed efforts and concentration.

Not that I disagree with the buy players when your winning, but I don't really think a "better" player than Gallas or Bassong would have done any better if they were in the same circumstance. The reason why Gallas and Bassong weren't good enough tonight is because they've barely played. It doesn't matter who we bring in in Jan, if that player only plays once or twice a month then he's going to be rusty and deemed not good enough. When Bassong got a run in the team two years ago he was fine. Gallas has a rusty start last year too because he didn't play many games. After he got a run he was definitely good enough for us.

As long as none of our defenders suffer any long term injuries between I don't think we really need to buy another until the summer. We can then re-evaluate things and see what Gallas and King have to offer after this year and see they need replacement or if Caulker is ready to make the step up.

But if you bring in a whole raft of new squad players who arn't playing regularly you'll see similar problems from time to time. I agree some arn't good enough, Bassong in particular looks a shadow of the player he was in his first season...and guess what he was playing regularly then.

Its not a slight on Harry by the way, its a very tricky balancing act...but its hard to change a winning team that is producing an unbelievable run in the League.

Personally I think Harry will mix it up over the festive period, he'll have to as the games come thick and fast - injuries as well will force his hand etc, so some of these guys will get some consecutive games under their belts. As the season were's on we'll hopefully be utilising the squad well.

josep ilicic..forget leandro. he will be the next "modric" signing.
If we get him. we will be set for a decade. Palermo also shits out talent like other.

pastore
hernandez
ilicic
cavani

who is their scout?

Except Ilicic doesn't play as a lone striker, he plays in a far deeper role and he isn't a prolific goalscorer. He's talented but just because he is tall doesn't mean he would ever be the type of hold up player that we could use in the Adebayor way.

Imhu would be a good signing. Young, quick, good in the air and probably available for a reasonable fee.
